Default Hourglass figure?

According to Wikipedia, hourglass figures are a more common trait in homosexuals; I have one too and was wondering how many others did as well - or, conversely, do not (have masculine proportions: broader shoulders, narrow hips etc.)

It's quite a weird thing for males to have an hourglass figure - considering that (and I'm not a biologist) wide hips are typically female and to do with bearing and raising babies!

At the moment I'm a bit podgy (but not hugely figure-altering fat) but my bone structure is quite hourglass - the top of my ribcage is rather huge. But it narrows towards the bottom and goes in quite a bit after it...
And my pelvis has the height of a male pelvis, but the width of a female pelvis...
So yes, I do basically have an hourglass frame lol

My body is petite in a feminine way; I have a small waist, narrow shoulders and my hips are a bit bigger~.
Though I know a few straight guys who are similar in that respect, too. : )

Apparenly I'm a pear shaped man, I found that funny. Normally you hear about womens body shapes. The guy who told me that said that my body shape would be perfect for weight lifting as my shoulders are quite broad for my shape/height.

The same with me. But back when I was average/slightly muscular, I had a normal male body type.

Naw I've got a traditional linemen body. Large broad shoulders, large chest, tree trunk legs and a big ole gut.

I don't understand really why my hips seemed to move outwards when I got more...fat. I mean how does fat influence body structure? :S

Were you growing too? What do you mean moving outwards?

Also I have big hips and I despise them!!!!!!! But, my two brothers also have somewhat larger than normal hips for males and they are straight (as far as I know). I want guy hips! :'( Trying hard to work out to shrink their appearance.

For me that is not so, I have a very macho buid. Typical quarterback or runningback build. But the one gay guy I know has a pretty femine build.

I do! My hips are obscenely wide, which makes me look slighty strange considering how thin I am.

I grew up playing hockey and running competitively - was always an ecto-meso body type, not much fat. Now I do biking, yoga, rock climbing, running, swimming every day so no hourglass here. I have a big butt though - always did, but its not fat either

I mean skeletally my shoulders are broader than my hips, but my torso is really thin so I look like an hourglass...

I've got broad shoulders and narrow hips. I also talk and act very masculine too though.
