I can’t help but notice that the posts in this forum that report bad news get far more replies than those that report good news. Is it because people prefer to focus on the negative, or is something else going on?
Bad news can be looked over many times and the person who have many views on it and most stories are ongoing, good news on the otherhand can be read and given an 'ohwell' type response because its generally something that is already over.
Because usually those posts have something to do with how X, Y and Z people hate the LGTB community and most of those posts include either a priest, politician or minister.
What is there to say about news that everyone views as good? Pretty much just "Yay!" or "That's nice." (That doesn't mean that people don't enjoy it or find it informative though!) There is alot more to talk about when there is controversy.
Because if we see something nice we have a little "Yay! =3" moment but may not necessarily see any reason to post or have nothing to contribute. While as if there's something abhorrent or something we're against, we seize the moment to expell our bitchyness and make our stance known! :tantrum:
It is a well known phenomenon, there is even a song about it.
