.... to my old school to set the record straight about how things were when I was there. I didn't think to get a copy of it (I'm using a different email account from usual and I can't figure out how to view sent emails....) but basically it was pointing out that there will be a substantial number of gay students at the school and that refusing to acknowledge them only ends up hurting them. I gave them all the statistics so they can't argue with me and I asked them why they didn't let us set up a GSA while we were there. Here's hoping they write back.
That's fantastic! I hope you asked for a reply, because if you didn't, they'll probalby use that as an excuse not to reply I agree with hdryjo, if they don't respond, write an open letter to your local newspaper or take it to your local tv station.
Way to go! And I agree with everyone else. You will lose nothing by sending it and could in fact help the kids at your old school
It's great that you have sent the e-mail. Yep, I agree that it could help other teens/youths at the school. Way to go!
When I was there there was one girl who got outed to the whole school and bullied for it.... not sure if the teachers knew about that. Then there were the four of us who tried to start a GSA and the principal guessed two gay and two straight.... so I get the feeling they thought there were three gay people at their school. Thought it couldn't hurt to tell them there were seven just in my year..... hopefully they get the point. We're probably the second biggest minority at that school.
wow, i like you! you think just like me, I've done similar things and when you get the results you want its phenomenal! i hope you do get the results you want, and i'm anxious to hear about it!
