The in-service is devoted to bullying in the classroom as it relates to LGBT issues. Have you ever been bullied in the classroom? Have you found a supportive teacher/faculty/staff at your school to help you with your bullying? What are some instances that stand out when you think about bullying in your schools? If you could make any changes within your school to prevent the bullying of LGBT students, what would those changed be? Thanks!!!!

I've never considered it full on bullying but I do receive alot of crap about it. ave you found a supportive teacher/faculty/staff at your school to help you with your bullying? Nope, I've had kids shout 'FAG' at me across the classroom and teachers usually pretend not to hear. What are some instances that stand out when you think about bullying in your schools? See above ![]() If you could make any changes within your school to prevent the bullying of LGBT students, what would those changed be? Well teachers and students seem to be so concentrated on making sure racism isn't a big thing that they seem to just skim over homophobia. I'd like it to be so that homophobia is considered to be on an equal par with racism :/ |

Sure, but it had nothing to do with me being gay, bi, or whatever, and more with other issues, so it may be irrelevant to your studies. So, that being said, that pretty much blows the other two questions out of the water for me.

I have had people make faces at me and stay away like I have the plague or something, as well as heard a few jokes and rude remarks, and experience the occasional shove. *Have you found a supportive teacher/faculty/staff at your school to help you with your bullying? I know a teacher who doesn't approve of the bullying of LGBT students, but there's really no one to talk to about the bullying itself. As far as they see it, they have their hands full with bullying in general, and LGBT problems are of minimal importance unless it threatens a student's life or gets too out of hand. *What are some instances that stand out when you think about bullying in your schools? There is a lot of fighting and making fun of others, but it isn't always related to LGBT stuff. I can't recall any incident that really sticks out in my mind as I tend to be way out of the 'gossip-loop' at school. *If you could make any changes within your school to prevent the bullying of LGBT students, what would those changed be? I think the 'no bullying' rules need to actually be reinforced, not just all talk and no action. The bullying of LGBT students needs to be taken more seriously and, as said above, put on equal importance as the bullying because of race or religion or others. I also think that if the students were actually taught about homosexuality and such that they wouldn't be as homophobic, but the parents would probably complain about that and therefore it probably wouldn't happen.
