Ok, so im curious. How many other kiwis are there on EC? I've seen four others; RedKnight, DemisAngel, NikX and Aya McCabre. Any others around? There are several members from all over Europe and Australia, but there must be more than five kiwis

So, if there are, :smilewave hello fellow kiwis  :smilewave

Awesome.... we can make the rest of the world conform to outrageous kiwi stereotypes. They can all buy our sheep so they can ride them to work. heheheh

This seems like the perfect thread to ask in!

I'm heading to NZ in July/August for some snowboaring. Any suggestions as to where/when, what deals might available and what nightlife is available near the fields?

I just wanted to say to all the kiwis, if you get the chance to go to the Kazam! hui (or equivalent) next year, take it! This year's hui just finished today and it was amazing, so go to one if you can.

If only I were from New Zealand... And I'm not sure if I'll get an answer, but what exactly do you mean by 'kiwi'?

They mean by the bird kiwi. It's wingless i believe? and it can't fly. If memory recalls correctly...it's native in New Zealand? or was it a symbol in New Zealand...can't quite remember.

It's our native bird. Has wings, but can't fly. Is a symbol of nz. Google search for more info

Kiwi is usually a slang word for a new zealander. Because it's a native bird to nz

Is the Kiwi endangered? Why is it a symbol for New Zealand anyway? Also, is it used in any New Zealand symbols such as flags or coats of arms?

I think that they prefer it more than sheep as the national symbol *hehe* But I believe that it is due to the fact that it is really only found in New Zealand. Its very rare to find Kiwi birds outside of New Zealand, I think that we only have Brown Kiwi here in Australia and that itself is a very small colony. And the Kiwi is a very endangered bird. And yes it is used on pretty much anything important in New Zealand; coat of arms, crests, badges, RSL clubs and many national and regional organisations. Also it on one of the coins, I think it is either the 5c or 10c pieces.

20 cent coins actually :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: we don't have fives any more.

But yes, it is very endangered. It is on many national symbols, eg army logo, coat of arms...

It is slang for new zealander as well

It used to be on the 20 cent coins before we switched to the new design. Those coins aren't used any more (the new ones are much smaller and thinner). It's still on the $1 coin which didn't change when the silver coins did.

I'm new to this forum. I've been lurking around reading posts this week. I'm from Auckland, New Zealand. Would love to make some friends that are gay, bi or lesbian. I don't have many. I just moved to Aucks from Christchurch. Thank god I wasn't there for the latest quakes. I'm worried about my friends down there.

I have been to New Zealand (utterly wonderful place!) and have family on Waiheke Island. I'm a really weird mix of nationalities but there is no kiwi in me. :frowning2:

There are nine kiwis now; EskimoGirlJordy is in Nelson (wherever that is), but will be going to America. *does a SuperWave that somehow penetrates the Earth so that Jordy can see she is saying hello*
