Well, it's August first. Your formatting may vary, but here in the US, that's typically written as 8-01. So? What's 801? Well, in japanese many characters, numbers included, have multiple readings, and one way to read 801 is
    8 や ya
    0 お o
    1 い i

or yaoi. Yes, yaoi, BL, boys love...

So if March 14 can be pi day (3-14), why can't today be for yaoi?

Anyways, I was wondering how many other yaoi fans are out here. Or do you prefer yuri (y'know, GL, girl's love)?

Let me begin by making my postion on the matter perfectly clear- I love yaoi. Like, a lot. You know how straight guys are supposed to love lesbians for some reason? Well, that's how much I love yaoi.
(I do love the lesbians, of course, just on a completely different level- one with more clothing)

But since this is the only place I can discuss the subject... what are your thoughts?

I don't know why, but i like it too. I find it funny how you just knew that 801 was that in Japanese.

Unless you looked it up, which is funnier

I was thinking about starting a yaoi thread way back but I guess it's already here^_^
I like both btw. I just like seeing their actions^^

Anyway, shouldn't August 1st be "hachigatsu ichi-something"? Well, according to what you said on the top, I guess there could really be a number of ways of reading dates.

it would be "hachigatsu tsuitachi" or "八月一日"

it makes a bit of sense though it's not usual for the digit 0 to be pronounced "オ" as far as i know... more common 零 (rei), ゼロ (zero) or 丸 (maru, [circle]). Could be wrong though.

Oh, and never seen it. >.<

Thanks for that^^ I don't know much about Japanese yet. But as for the "o" part of the transliteration, I do think the digit 0 could be pretty much read as "o" sometimes, just as in years. 2006 could be possibly read as "two-o-o-six", right? ^_^ Just an opinion

The days of the month are funny. They're all pronounced as just "number-nichi" except for the 1st through 10th, and the 20th. Good fun.

and yeah could be, i dunno, i've just never heard it.

Just wanna remind everyone not to post about manga/anime that's age restricted or pornographic. Romance is fine, porn isn't.

I'm generally ok with it, but there are two common elements that tend to bother me:

    1. The uke is usually extremely feminine in looks, to the point where if it weren't for the penis you really couldn't tell the gender. It confuses me, as wouldn't that just be defeating the purpose of being BOYS love? Meh.
    2. Rape as an element. I understand there is a difference in cultural interpretation, but rape is never ok in my opinion.

It's OK to fantasize about it as long as you're the victim!

i think it's okay to fantasise either way, so long as it's done healthily.
