Just a random question because Sylver and I went to Anthrocon 2011 this year and it was so much fun! It was absolutely fantastic. The artwork was amazing and some of the fursuits were very well done and in some cases... overboard (some looked like a rainbow exploded)...

Anyhow back to the question.. who else here is a furry and did anyone else go to AC 2011? :3

I'm shamed to admit that I'm a raging furfag. I love the art (which is 90% kinky, hot porn), love to roleplay, and love to hang with fellow furry friends. If I were better at art, you can bet I'd be drawing that shit until the world ended. Hell, I'd even get a fursuit someday.

Didn't go to AC though, but sneaking out to hang with furries last summer was one of the funnest things I'll ever remember. Regrettably, our little group I used to go to kinda fell apart, but maybe one day I'll start up a new one.

Yeah, I guess I'd consider myself a softcore furry. The art is just so hot. :3

I suppose I consider myself a softcore furry, too. I've never been turned off from anthro artwork by the fact that it was anthro, and when another furry described the things a furry couple might do (aside from dressing up), they sounded quite fun.

I dabbled in it a while back, but I've lost interest for the most part. Furry porn still turns me on though.

I have a soft spot in my heart for the whole "Furry" thing. As a kid, I could never hold the interest in anything that wasn't an animal long enough to draw it, but sometimes they needed to do people things in my pictures! So I ended up drawing furries before I knew they were a thing.

Then I found out they were a thing, and there was a community around it, and I thought, hey, neat! It gave me some semblance of social interaction in middle school. And I made some friends who also drew furries, and we would draw things to show off to each other and I'm pretty sure that gave me more of a start with my artwork than anything else.

I wouldn't say I am a furry anymore as I don't even really think about it enough to make the term applicable, but I enjoy drawing them occasionally. It's relaxing. It's a little easier to play with expressions on an animal face than on a human one without accidentally going all Uncanny Valley. Lackadaisy is one of my favorite examples. Tracy Butler's perfectly capable of drawing wonderfully expressive human faces, but that comic would just not feel the same if they weren't all insane cats.

I find it fascinating that in various university studies conducted recently, furries typically break down to about 20% straight, 30% gay, and 50% bisexual. I find that hard to explain because these numbers just don't match the sexual orientation breakdown of the general population, and they're not even in the same order! Why are so many furries gay, and why are more furries bisexual than gay? I have no reasonable explanation, but I'm sure it would make an interesting psych study.

Anyway, Zume and I had a lot of fun at Anthrocon. It was really refreshing to see so many people being open about who they are or want to be, and role playing is a lot of fun. I was also surprised at how many gay furries were being openly affectionate with each other in the venue and how accepted they were. It was almost doubly refreshing! =^.^=

I have internalized furryphobia. I feel kind of ashamed of it, but I do get turned on by some furry drawings. Only fat furs, and almost exclusively reptiles (dragons, alligators, Bowser). This was actually the first thing I was really strongly attracted to, so much so that I didn't think I was gay but instead just crazy.

Since then I've come to find real life men attractive. Every so often I'll draw fat alligators and make up stories about them, but I don't like how I do that. It's like, I feel immoral when I spend too much time fantasizing sexually, and it feels very wrong when I fantasize about things that aren't even real. :frowning2:

Well I can say I am totally a furry though not really into the whole fursuiting thing. I love the art work and have a ton of it. I plan to go to con as soon as I get the money up. I am pretty big into furry rp on one forum board I am a member of. Oh and I love the comic better days/ original life.

There's no reason for you to feel wrong about it. Any fantasy, no matter what its natural, cannot be immoral so long as you do not act on it if acting on it would be immoral (and assuming you don't fantasize about furries doing immoral things, acting on it wouldn't be immoral, either). It can be hard to overcome any kind of internalized phobia, but take heart; it is possible, and you can do it.

Well now that you all have posted I suppose that it is my turn to answer my own question in detail :3

I am a total furry :3 I have been to a con (want to go to more), want to do the fursuiting, I do my own drawings (not doing great yet but it will take time), member of quite a few furry forums/websites, I wear a collar in real life with dog tags on them, I have made my own tails to wear around (also made one for Sylver  ) and just like so many others here.. the furry art does turn me on as well.

I would also consider myself a therian. Which, for those that don't know what it is, is a human who believes either that they are an animal trapped in a human body or a human that is "more than" human or "part human and part animal". I would consider myself among those that believe the third. Among those animals that make up parts of me being a wolf, a panther and a dalmatian.

Along with the majority of the furry community, I do have a fursona also which is a dalmatian. I haven't had any drawing commissioned yet of my own fursona so I used a couple random pics as my avatar and profile pics but they will be changed out in time with my own fursona.

    I'm apparently on the border.

I've got a bizarre relationship with porn. When it's video or still photographic porn, I can enjoy it on that level, but part of me can't shake this feeling that...well, to be bizarre about it, "there's a person there". In short, part of me thinks about the "actors" rather than the "roles". If it's professional porn, I can't put aside the fact that these are human beings who are doing this for money. When it's amateur porn, I even have part of me that wonders if they regret filming this, and having it show up online.

Which is why I like the more "impersonal" forms of pornography. Written erotica is great, since there aren't any people involved. I can simply enjoy the story and the sex for what it is. And cartoon/drawn pornography is great for the same reason. There aren't any "actors" - only roles. Those two guys - or elves, or anthropomorphic water buffalo - don't exist outside that picture. There's nothing to think about other than what they're doing on that page. And so it frees my brain up to enjoy it more. And it seems I find a lot more non-human cartoon porn than human. Which is fine - they both work.

As far as actually being a "fur", no, I'm not one. I've never developed a "fursona", unless Lexington the gargoyle over there counts, and I basically just co-opted him. I've never worn a suit, and the idea isn't a turn-on in the slightest. But I know several furries, and I really enjoy the "vibe". There's something very liberating about furries. I know other people can find them creepy or whatever, but to me, they've always been very friendly and given off a "this may be weird, but we really like doing it, so fuck it - we're going to do it" vibe. Which is such a wise way to live. I was actually asked to work a furry convention, and I had to turn them down, simply because I was already booked. I asked them to contact me again next year, but sadly, they didn't.
