I must admit, this is interesting and I'm curious too, so sorry for not being able to answer your question.

I wouldn't think it was that homophobic, I would've thought that some of the country's ghettos would be worse - although not necessarily institutionally homophobic

| Just passing through Full Member Gender: Something Orientation: Dunno Out Status: If they ask i will tell them Location: Wherever Age: 23 Posts: 6,002 Join Date: Mar 2009 | Well me and my friends went on holiday to Cornwall to Looe. Was a beautiful seaside town. We shall be going back. I didn't see any signs of homophobia or any bigotry at all. It seemed very pleasant. Though I know of a certain Cornish commedian and a fair few of his jokes are anti gay. I don't think it's homophobia in the modern hate sense. I think if there's homophobia I think its possibly more ignorant generational gap going back to working mens clubs. But please don't judge somewhere on what you hear from rumour till you have proof. I say do Internet searches and you may not know until you actually go there.

| Newbie Regular Member Gender: Male Orientation: Gay Out Status: Outed myself on facebook but I dont know who saw Location: Newquay Posts: 2 Join Date: Aug 2011 | Im from Newquay in Cornwall and I can safely say throughout my whole life living here I havent seen any REAL homophobia. Ok sometimes people make little gay jokes, but thats it really. People are quite liberal down here, not so much the older generation though. But yea overall its pretty good down here if people are homophobic at my school they get in LOADS of trouble ![]() |

Out Status: Not out at all Location: England, UK Age: 17 Posts: 1,025 Join Date: May 2011 | I haven't been to Cornwall myself, but I haven't heard anything about homophobia in Cornwall. The only thing I've heard about Cornwall is some of people that live there want independence from the rest of the UK. Nothing homophobic.
