I thought the only "female" piercings were like, genital... but apparently I was wrong. I recently got my upper lip pierced (a monroe, as it's called) and I've got a lot of shit from people claiming I got a "girl's" piercing. I'm curious as to how you all feel. Are there "guy" piercings and "girl" piercings? I'm all equal-opportunity. If you're a dude and you want a corset piercing, I say go for it. If you're a chick and you want super gauged earlobes, then all the power to you.
I got quite a few comments when I had both my ears pierced rather than just the left one. I would think that was quite common. *shrug* When people asked me why, I simply replied "because I wanted to". Seemed not to be a good enough answer for them, which I found amusing ... I'm not sure if there are any strong gender-guidelines when it comes to piercings. People seem to go against them just on principle.
Within certain limits I'd say I mean, if you need wire cutters just to get to the face, you're overdoing it. When I think of it I haven't yet seen any guys challenging the belly-button-piercings-are-for-girls norm yet though ...
Nah, I've seen male bellybutton piercings before. They're not very common admittedly, but you do get the odd one here and there.
Yeah, that'd work ... ---------- Post added 24th Aug 2011 at 10:03 PM ---------- Don't think I can pull that off. Not that I've tried to wear make-up like that, not really my thing ... Need to get a girl to try that on me some time though. A bit curious as to how it would look
Apart from the ones that are anatomically specific, I can't think of any that are considered men's piercings. Woman's piercings on the other hand.... belly button, cheeks, vertical labret and to some extent standard nose piercings are all considered more feminine. I LOVE body mod and I spend a lot of time on mod blogs, so I'm used to seeing everything on every gender (often all at once), but in society it seems that a lot of piercings are quite gender specific. People often seem to have strong opinions on who should get nipple piercings. My only requirement is that they're done well...... EDIT: For the person who said they're getting their belly button pierced when they lose weight (and anyone else who might be thinking about it), the more weight you lose the more it will hurt to get it done. Something to think about.
