I don't know why but I can't sleep and I have to be up in 4 hours. I don't usually have this problem. Just wondering what do u do to help you fall asleep?

I put on some quiet music, no words. I make sure I am not too hot or cold; I might change blankets or put on socks. I think through the next day: am I axious? excited? or what? I try to clear my mind, perhaps focusing on one word as I breathe in and out. I don't read or turn the light on; I only do that at the beginning of the night, not halfway through. I might change which end of the bed I am at to make myself more comfortable. I get a soft toy to cuddle

But you will be asleep by now anyway.

I usually just throw on the old iPod & listenn to some music, generally anything that will encourage sleep but not force it. Pink Floyd is good for me, as I really like it because I force myself to stay awake as long as I can while the music is soft & melodic enough to put me out. The whole forcing yourself to stay awake instead of trying to sleep approach...

I have the same problem :/ What I usually do is just close my eyes and imagine random stuff to the point where I'm almost dreaming and I eventually fall asleep :s

This is what I do. Or I pretend that I'm rich and famous and try to decide what I would do with those privileges.

I have the same problem. My doctor made a point that there should be no caffiene after 6PM, which for people out age can be hard.
Since something may be bothering you and you don't realize it, try to find a few minutes everyday to think and see if there's any problems or issues. Strangely, this seems to keep me up, so it may be worthwhile for you.
TV and computers are stimulating, so if you could limit (or cut out) the use for an hour before bed could help.
A spa sound machiene that plays ocean waves, rain, white noise, or waterfalls can help.

Well, I go pee or drink a glass of water. Then I turn once or twice and try thinking pleasant thoughts (not that kind of pleasant)

Get up and do a random task for a few minutes. If you continue to associate being in bed with not being asleep, it makes it harder for your body to want to sleep when you're in bed.

I watch videos, listen to music and write. It really depends on what I'm in the mood to do before I try to go to sleep.

I go back to my computer  And wait to fall asleep. Either that or just wait, sleep will come eventually.

I stay awake when it gets too much to get myself to sleep, the next day is always fun while I'm super tired.

My sleep pattern tends to be pretty set. So if I try to go to bed earlier than usual, I'll probably just lie awake until my usual time. The only workable way I've found to get around this is to make sure I'm so tired (so wake up really early one day, and probably try and exhaust myself by exercise or something) that I can fall asleep earlier.
