It seems to be typical that gay mens' best friends are girls and the opposite for lesbians. I was wondering how much that applies here on E.C. For me personally I have some girl friends but none that I would consider close. However I have a bunch of straight guy friends that I hang out with on a regular basis and I consider to be my best friends. While this configuration might seem more typical for a straight male, it could just be that I am an introvert and have just not bothered making the effort to bring girls into my circle of close friends. So if you are gay, lesbian, bi, or trans, is the group of friends you mainly hang out with girls or boys?

I'm a lesbian, but I actually have two best friends; both are girls. Although one of them is really tomboyish and has mostly guy friends and traits. The second says she's tomboyish but she's actually really cute and kinda girly.

I have three really close friends. Ones that I can always count on. Two are girls and one is a guy and none of them are really friends with each other, they all belong to different groups. All are straight, I believe.

Re: Who is your best friend?

I didn't vote cause I'm a bit like Lex in that I don't really think of who's my "best" friend or whatever, I have friends that I'm pretty close to, some more than others, but I couldn't choose one over another.

Saying that, most of my friends are generally straight males. I've never really fitted in with any stereotype or definition, I'm just me. And while I have female friends that I get on with and such, I've always felt I could relate more and "click" with males more (and I don't mean that in any sexual way at all).

As with many things its something that always confused me, I always thought my sexuality didn't match up with my behaviour or personality, but I soon realised that there is no match. Sexuality is just one part of a person, and it doesn't really define anything about you really. Everyone is different and unique, I doubt anyone makes friends, or for that matter likes a certain subject, because of their sexuality. In that respect, I think its irrelevant.

I don't really have a best friend. I'm a loner. But since my ex isn't my boyfriend right now, I'd count him as my best friend. So I'll say a guy.

My two best friends in the world are girls. I have some guy friends by default, but I feel really awkward when I'm around just a group of guys. I have more in common with the ladies

I would like to say that all of my friends are my best friends. But I do have 3 that I would say I'm more close with, I guess? Two are girls and one guy.

Re: Who is your best friend?

My friends are mainly girls, but I've had quite a few male best friends.

(The kid in my neighborhood when I was in elementary school. Some of my best friends in middle school. My step-cousin.)

At the moment, though, there's only 2 guys I regularly hang out with.

Re: Who is your best friend?

I have both a guy best friend and a girl best friend. The guy best friend is bi and the girl best friend straight. I don't like to put one over the other, because the friendship between my guy best friend and I is completely different to that between my girl best friend and I. In general though, I have a 50/50 guy/girl friend split, but I have a tendency to sit with girls in classes. For the most part however, my best friends have been guys until recently.

On a side note, you need to be able to select multiple options/have a bisexual option. >.>

At the behest of the OP, I've changed the topic slightly, and added more options.

Only one to answer "I am lesbian and my best friends are mainly male"? Hmmm.

Um, I have a really hard time relating to guys, generally speaking. I don't know why that is. Almost all of my best friends are girls, but that's fine with me.
