A High School Survival Guide for the Modern Teen

Found this article and it seems pretty no-nonsense and practical. I figured there might be at least a couple of useful tidbits for some of our high-school aged members

I liked high school my first two years. Then in my junior and senior years, it turned into a joke.

High school has more or less being a story of rise and crash. Everything seems perfect for a while, then something comes along and decides to take a dump on my life. I can't say I'll be sad to see it go, but I won't be happy about moving on either.

But last year (Year 10) was a trainwreck, period. I don't think anything went right that year. At least some things are going right this year.

My high school was great before they tore it apart for renovation. Emotionally though, my freshman year I sorta ok and then totally crashed my sophomore and junior year. Luckily I kept my grades though. My senior year was awesome though.

Articles like this make me feel bad about myself. The whole "you should be having fun" message makes me feel like the odd one out, because by no stretch of the imagination am I having fun, and there's no easy way to fix any of the problems I have there.

I hated high school. The moment I left and went to college, everything improved.

Though as someone who is British and was always at British schools, I hated my entire high school experience (I left after the GCSEs, because I knew anything was better than that). The majority of the people were douchebags, some of the teachers were really awful at their job, some of the lessons sucked and I didn't feel comfortable there at all. The best time I had was with the GCSEs and that's sad thinking about it. At least I'm pleased to know that karma hit them hard and they failed elements of their OFSTED report.

Thankfully, I chose to leave as soon as I could, passed my GCSEs and went to college, been there for three years, approaching four (thus beating my high school years by one year ) and then hopefully do a top-up degree at university (although my current course is university level).
