Dreadlocks look good on certain people, but not everyone, at least from what I can tell. It certainly wouldn't look good on me anyway.

But dreadlocks definitely have my respect. Awesome underrated hair style.

Agreed, only good on certain people. But when on the right people, damn they are as sexy as hell!

I have never seen a white guy that dreadlocks look good on. My best friend started growing some and I stopped talking to him until he agreed to stop (3 weeks).

I have, however, seen some very nice looking black guys with them.

I met two very attractive people with dreadlocks over the summer, a woman and a man. That being said, they had pretty faces as well.

I'm not a fan; though that said I once did kiss a guy with dreads.

I think the only people who can really pull them off are black women, black men who look like black women, and Bob Marley.

Everyone I've seen in real life who had dreadlocks has not been able to rock the look though.

Hi, everyone. I've just found this topic and it's really interesting. My dreads are just a couple of years old and well, I live in Mexico City, so, it's kind of a different situation here. I mean, I would say most people don't think in terms of the black/ white dichotomy I see in many of the comments (I guess because we're brown, mostly). I think people here in Mexico would simply relate dreads with either hippie people or with reggae culture. Nowadays, having just one or two dreads and not the whole hair is getting somewhat 'popular' among some people in Mexico city (I mean, not as popular as to dress like this kid, Beaver, Bieber...), I guess 3 out of 2500...

It's really interesting how different cultures perceive the same object differently. In India, many holy man used them, and It's said, mayan and aztec priests (and even kings) had them as well.

Anyway, I have to say that sometimes this look is associated with bad habits. I would suggest you to think about what you 'are saying' with your dreads, I mean, if they are always clean and nice they'll look awesome! When I see a guy with nice dreads I automatically think he's a person with good habits (having them properly clean and fit is harder than most people know!). Personally, it takes me some half an hour, sometimes more everyday to reattach loosen hairs after showering and palm rolling...

Finally, to me, having dreads is about looking good as well as it is about your philosophy of life (and I'm not a rastafari, nor a hindu sage or an aztec priest , oh, and I don't smoke anything nor I drink alcohol), I just believe people attracted to alternative non-mainstream or trendy stuff as well as some musicians, social workers, philosophers, language teachers, etc. have dreads. Why?, I don't know, but it'd interesting finding it out, isn't it? (if possible )

Well, that's my opinion. Glad to hear about some fellow dreads-lovers!

Btw. I'm sorry if I have many misspellings (English is not my first language )
