It's part of the We The People program, and these are the rules for it.

If you haven't signed the petition, make an account and do it. It takes less than five minutes. There are other LGBT petitions there as well, like ENDA and other issues.

Well although I would like to sign for you, I doubt this will do anything. From what I know is that the definition, recognition, conducting, and registration of marriage is the jurisdiction of state governments. The federal government and the federal congress has no power to do this.

The only way for a nationwide, and immediate change that does not require a constitutional amendment (which then has to pass through the legislative assemblies of 2/3 of the 50 states) is for a federal court, and ultimately the supreme court to find something in the current federal law, constitution, or something that can be interpreted to mean that marriages defined by two people of opposite gender would violate that federal law or constitutional article (such as the ruling legalizing abortion and women's right to choice).

A federal legislation would be weak, because congress can easily change it. A constitutional recognition would be strong, because it would be difficult to change.
