Default Group Work

I really really hate doing group work in school! It's so annoying when your group members don't do any work at all because either they're lazy or because they know you're going to do the work either way! It's so extremely annoying! And then when you ask them if they did their part of the work that was assigned they'll be like "no" and then they give you like a fricking smile that just wants to make slap them across the face and it's not like you can totally go tell the teacher because she usually won't care or will tell you to deal with but it just really bothers me when people don't even try -.-

Does anyone else feel like this?

As a semi-introvert/control freak, I'm the worst and best group partner.

I have a tendency to want to do everything (and I mean EVERYTHING). As long as you are getting assessed individually, as long as the lazy bum isn't "forced" to be my responsibility, I would love to just have him do nothing. I'm currently working on a Science project, and while having a partner helps speed things up, I feel I can be at peace being excessively anal about things while working alone.

My favourite saying is "When you involve people, things go wrong." - Me. I like working on my own so I only have to deal with myself and can only blame myself.

I have had experiences such as that of the OP's, I just make a management decision and take control.

Argh, yes.
The bad thing is it continues all your life so you have no choice but to get used to it. Unless you have a super independent job, groups are always going to be around.

Actually, I love group work. But I think this probably only applies at an university level in the correct faculties. If its a new media/interactive arts type project, group work is a definite must. It helps stimulate the project and brainstorms out new ideas, offering different opinions and perspectives....etc.

Anyways, that's what makes groups so...critical, but even then, a lot of people don't like it because of the workload problem. Thankfully, nearly all the group work I have been in during my university time, we could arrange our own teams. Plus, I met pretty much all my university friends via this fashion

Also, personally i'm a little bit on the control freak/slave driver side :P but then all my friends know that now and they're fine with it XD.

I can take it or leave it, it just depends on who I'm working with. If I had a my choice I would prefer to work on it alone though, just because I know I can do better than anything anyone else turns in if I wanted to.

Right now though I'm working on an explication of An American Tail: Fievel Goes West as part of my Creative Writing and Literature class, and my group is so much fun. I'm actually looking forward to working with them. ^_^

I can't stand group work. I don't think I've ever had a good experience doing a group project, and almost always I feel like I could've done a much better job on my own.
