  2. "American – arrogant; assertive; open-minded; materialistic; ambitious; progressive; efficient; straight-forward; alert; practical; US-centered world view; egoistic; anxious; fast food eaters; war mongers; God is with us!"

How can you be arrogant AND open-minded?

I don't think this is an accurate presentation of American, hence why it's a stereotype. I can't judge on any other countries though because I don't know much about them. :bang:

Much preferred the first one mainly because it was very accurate and I didn't feel like I was reading a dictionary

Love it how they nail the English not liking everyone and hating the countries they live in that aren't England

Australians – party animals; nature lovers; surf all day – drink all night; have surfer chicks; heavy binge drinkers; neurotic; extroverted; sometimes shallow but honest; open-minded; free spirited; love to joke; “hail-fellow-well-met” or “chummy” attitude; men are useless dads; have barbie loving home cooking mums; uncultured; Crocodile Dundee outsider types; sports lovers; meat eaters; bush battling rednecks

I don't think I fit any of those except open-minded.

The first one for the British, I think is sadly true. I'm really not the typical English person though e.g. my views on Europe...people should start acting like we are only a few kilometres off the coast of France, because like, we are.

British (UK) – drinkers; lousy food; stiff upper-lips; ultra-traditional; steady-on, old chaps; bulldog spirit; bad teeth and hygiene; rude; thin; smoke cigar or pipe; scruffy hair; “fitted” clothing; heavy binge drinkers; swear all day long; artistic; “fashionable”; deep thinkers; intelligent and articulate; boastful; anti-American; ride bikes; God save the Queen!

These are all true except the bad teeth and hygiene, and the cigar/pipe
And well no-one would be all of those at once. But they do seem to be quite British traits.

It always seems like most people think of Americans as cowboys or something... Gun-crazy lunatics that run around shooting each other and love cowboy hats and big buckles. I've had many foreign students at school say that's what they and everything they knew back home thought of us.

Colombians – impulsive; aggressive; violent; kidnappers & narco-traffickers; merengue dancers; passionate; educated; hard-working; caring and listening people; nature lovers

    Okay then... xD

This wouldn't be so painful if the author of the article wasn't actually trying to be serious about this whole thing. Its ridiculous to try and set a whole country into one single box.

Sadly, this describes my Colombian stepbrother perfectly, the idiot... He's not up to Drug Trafficking and kidnapping yet though. Though with the way he's living his late teen years, I won't be surprised honestly =/

    Sorry, random.

Finnish – vodka-lovers; modest; polite; somber; introverted; reserved; honest; curvy straight-talkers; trustworthy; quiet; serious; diligent and humble; tough negotiators and demanding businessmen; nit pickers; melancholic; very tall and blond; they love nature; frugal; calm; sturdy; sauna fans; have attractive women

"alcohol-lovers" might be a more appropriate description.

In one of my Spanish classes at school, our teacher read us American sterotypes from students in Spain who had never been to America and didn't have friends/family in America.

They basically said that all the men are really good looking like movie stars; all the women are either too fat or too thin; and in our spare time we go on long walks along the beach, to discos, and rodeos. O-o My classes' reaction was: "Do discos still exist?"

Unfortunely the drinking one is quite true.

For me personally the ones which are true: Swearing, deep thinker, intelligent (I would like to think so lol)

Outed steroetypes: ultra-traditional, bad teeth and hygiene, smoke cigar/pipe, scruffy hair, steady-on, old chaps, and most people either are against the monarchy or don't care at all.

Stereotypes which are just bull: Rudeness - We brits are way more civil than the americans and some the european countires especially the french.

Anti-American - yes, we like to joke about americans but most of us like americans.

Ride Bikes - Why the hell is that a stereotype? And why is it accosiated with Britain?

Fitted clothing - Most people can't afford that. It's only on special occasions like weddings that people get clothes fitted.

Boastful - Again, we're not as bad as the americans and some of the other european countries.

Malaysians – lazy; anxious; neurotic; manipulative; survive by cronyism and nepotism; introverted; have inferiority complex; arrogant; have speed traps everywhere; ultra-religious, but sell porn everywhere; inhospitable, hate Westerners; boring; have great varieties of food; embrace multi-culturalism; wear bright, colorful clothes; every long-term visitor is expected to convert to Islam; love to watch soap operas; men chauvinistic, have mistresses; women traditional but with modern thinking

not true. I LOVE Westerners. I might be a bit boring and I am not very religious.
However, this only applies to Malay than Malaysians. I am more of a Chinese character.

I have to agree with most of the one on Belgium - I'm from Belgium. The tax evasion is more Luxembourg (small country to the south) though.

Hungarians – good drivers; salami addicts; hot cuisine full of pepper and paprika; use oversized pencils; “a small nation struggling and surviving against the odds”; oppressors turned troublemakers; indigenous; often desperate and hopeless; calm and objective way of thinking; courage; audacity and insistence on ideas

    I'm a terrible driver and a vegetarian.
What is that about oversized pencils?

I think that the link to the list of ethnic slurs at the bottom is so funny. I haven't heard half of them..

Brit stereotypes that fit me: stiff upper-lips; ultra-traditional; steady-on, old chaps; bad teeth and hygiene; thin; scruffy hair; artistic; deep thinkers; intelligent and articulate; boastful; ride bikes; God save the Queen!

That don't: drinkers; smoke cigar or pipe; swear all day long; anti-American; "fashionable"; bulldog spirit; heavy binge drinkers; rude; bad teeth and hygiene;" fitted" clothing; boastful.

(Ones that appear in both lists vary.)

    Hmmm...
