I think we should all breathe a sigh of relief... I just realized something. In leviticus, it says that a man shall not lie with a man as a man lies with a women, for that is destestable.

so if they are refering to sex, when a man lies with a women, he sticks his penis in her vagina...

... seeing as how men do not have vaginas, then it is biologically impossible for two men to lie with each other as a man lies with a women, for men do not have vaginas.

    we are in the clear!!!

Well it says that man should not lie with man as he does with woman.

I don't lie with women, only men. So I am not doing the same thing with a man that I do with a woman. I'm in the clear. Loophole for the win.

"Do not lie with man as you lie with woman." I never lie with men when I lie with women. I'm fine.

So far our interpretations seem to be "trans men shouldn't use their vaginas", "no threesomes", and "bisexuals should be cautious not to make their man-loving too much like their lady-loving"... along with the classic "no gays" interpretation I think "this verse is vague" is the only thing we can safely conclude.

(Unless the original language is more enlightening)

I would forward that Leviticus is not possible, which is why it sounds so ridiculous in the first place. But then again, of course, it's ridiculous, look at the people quoting it all the time. Those so-called 'righteous' people are largely ridiculous themselves...

umm, yeah, great. You're trying to use a technical loophole in the wording of a text that's been translated at least three times.

I'm not a man and I don't lie with men (at all) like I do with women so I'm clear too! lol Leviticus is weird and I'm glad you all showed how absurd it is. I'm using your explanations next time someone brings out verses to diss gay people.

You could also twist it so that you never lie in the *presence* of men, as you do women. So:

A.) You never tell lies to men as you do women. Which is ridiculous because everyone lies.
B.) You never *lie down* while men are around, but if a woman is around then it's ok? So if you're sharing a house with a group of guys it's never ok to sleep ever because you can't lie down. Or you have to sleep in a chair all year.

What does it say about lesbians or transsexuals then?
    ..the ORIGINAL passage says
"If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman"
    ManKIND...not "man"
The entire verse could mean something completely different to what some people think today, i wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't even have anything to do with homosexuality considering the amount of loopholes stored within it
The entire book of levictus tbh is a joke and has no true religious references just a bunch of meaningless outdated laws, anyways i'm pretty sure the fact that homosexuality is not mentioned in the 10 commandments says a lot about it, not to mention levictus also condems incest...regardless of the fact that pretty much everyone in those days where married to their cousins, sisters etc...

i suppose that's nice to know for those who believe in God and in the bible, but I don't really care whether a book/person/deity condemns me for my sexual orientation. ^^

Most Christians disregard pretty much all of Leviticus anyway.
It's probably the most ridiculous book in the Bible, full of laws about how women are not allowed in church on their periods and stuff like that. And I think it also recommends selling your daughter as a slave at some point too

All the bible thumpers out there use Leviticus to say that homosexuality is a sin. If you read the whole passage, then working on the Sabbath is a sin, eating any form of shellfish and wearing any clothes that have mixed materials is a sin. Its funny how they forget to cite the whole passage...hmmm.

Levitcus 25 says that every fifty years all property is to be redistributed to the hands of its original owners, explicitly so that poor people who sell their land can get it back. Yes, that's right, Leviticus commands wealth redistribution.
