Just out of curiosity, what are some of the best places to live as an LGBT?
Out of experience, of what you have heard.

    Anywhere around the world!

Definitely here in Canada. Not everywhere, of course, but certainly Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver.
People are more queer-positive than in any other country I've visited, and it's getting better and better every single year in my experience. Also, I can't think of any legally institutionalized discrimination apart from the blood donation bans.

I would say San Diego but there's a lot of military folks out there so I'm not sure of their tolerance. But they do have a gay friendly district, kind of how The Castro is to San Fransisco.

    West Hollywood!

I've never really lived in West Hollywood but I've gone there a couple of times in both day and night, and it's just... The say a lot of gay people live there and I guess it's true.

^^Be careful with City-Data, though, there are a ton of assholes on that site, and it's possible you'll get a "your lifestyle choice is unnatural" reaction from a couple members.

Haha, I've been around on that site a bit (and by that, I mean I have about 2,000 posts), and the members overall have a generally left-of-center disposition. It's one of the more useful/diverse forums out there, but I hardly go anymore.

I actually just read an article that was top 25 "gayest"
places in the U.S..Funny Kansas city Mo, where I'm from and still live was rated number 25. I don't see it but I could just be bias since I live here. Salt lake city, Utah was number one

    Countries?

I would probably rank it like this:

    1. Spain
    2. The Netherlands
    3. Sweden
    4. Denmark
    5. Canada
    6. Iceland
    7. United Kingdom
    8. Belgium
    9 Finland
    10 USA
    11 South Africa
    12 Argentina
    13 Norway

All countries from 1 to 9 are awesome, amazing, gay friendly liberal countries. Countries 10 to 13 have somewhat gay friendly laws, but all are countries where religion is strong (i.e. "family values" anti gay BS). South Africa has gay friendly laws, but an extreme macho culture, and men thinking they can "cure" lesbians by raping them! Yep.. that actually happens. It's disgusting. Still.. they do have gay marriage and adoption and all of that.

    The worst places:
    1. all islamic countries (they tend to have anti-gay laws)
    2. most of Africa
    3. The Balkans
    4. rest of Eastern Europe

Bahaha, I'm a geography nerd like no other. Talking with many of the people there helped me choose my major as well.

Before moving to Austin, I read on there that the gay population was large, but so integrated that there wasn't really a community. It's given me reasonable expectations about what being out there is like. That site has been rather indispensable to me actually.

Would you really put Norway so much below the rest of Scandinavia and the USA, and even the UK? We stereotype you and Sweden as being ultra-liberal. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:
