If you have a fighting style you practice, which is it?
Or if you'd like to take one up. Post here.

I personally do boxing, it's really good fun a lot of strategy and studying goes into the fight pre and during it, or maybe since I'm a big C&C nerd. My family comes from a "Boot and Tooth." Style of fighting but I'm deviating for something a little more "Formal." Not stitching some fucker a headbutt and biting his neck.

My style is a blend of things but mainly Okinawian Goju Ryu a form of Karate. I intend to take Krav Maga or Systema classes if I can however.

We ain't got that in Ireland we have some MMA but thats still mostly boxing the views on martial arts in Ireland are either: Boxing, Kick Boxing, Boot and Tooth or Jackie-Chan-Bollocks same with England I'm pretty sure

In my town we have feuding bare knuckle clans 4 clubs for boxing and one for MMA, the only fighting styles that are professionally trained are a cross breed of Jeet Kune Do I think its called and boxing. To be fair the only thing the irish ever do well in during the olympics is boxing. We have some tremendous light weights

Jeet Kun Do is an ever evolving system of training invented by the late and great Bruce Lee. It is designed to train a student on what works for them as a martial artist. As such you cant grow wrong with it. Though Boxing lays a great ground work I suggest learning a more efficient and total body style if you are looking for self defense. As I posted I am sure if you wanted you could find Krav Maga close enough for you to get to. In my opinion it is one of the best systems out there for self defense.

At my current club we have one former all Ireland light weight, another under 18 light weight all Ireland Female. A Leinster mid weight under 16 female champion and a former fly weight Leinster champion, terrific trainers. I've always felt its how well you've learned it over the style, I never considered Kick Boxing a better or worse style than Boxing or any style for that matter. But boxing in a street fight can earn you an excellent reputation it even looks fierce if you deliver a good flurry
