Today I drove my car into the lake.

Today the weather was nice so I took a drive out to the lake. I could not believe how low the lake is. I drove to the end of a boat ramp and then drove another 500 yards on the lake bed. If the lake was at normal level the picture below would have easily been 20 feet under water.

It was odd driving where I know there should have been a lake. If the drought continues in 2013 I'll be able to drive across the lake.

Thanks, it has been a fun car. There are a lot of windy roads near the lake hence why I go out there on nice days.

Actually I just looked it up. If the lake was at normal levels that picture would have been 40 foot under water.

I really hope the drought does not continue into to this summer. If it does we are going to be in trouble.

I really hope Lake Travis starts filling up soon. It's gone up about 5 feet since November, but I think it needs something like 40 to 50 more feet. Luckily the La Niña weather pattern is supposed to let up in the next month or two, and the spring rains will come like normal. I want to free-water solo climb out there.

Today was beautiful though. I took a kayak out on Town Lake.

Have you seen how much Medina has gone down, though? It's incredible. And I'm sure Canyon Lake is pretty pathetic now.

I'm almost disappointed. I was expecting something like this.

Gee, that's very dry. Almost reminds me of Wivenhoe Dam, back when we had the very long drought here.

Needless to say, I think everybody will be happy to say goodbye to La Nina over here - We've already had around 2/3 of our average rainfall, with up to another 100mm+ to come over the next few days. And that's not even touching on the flooding down south.

I'm sure. This drought is terrible. Central Texas is supposed to look like this:

Yeah I had been in my truck I could have driven out a lot further. It just got too rocky to drive my car any further.

I saw on the LCRA site last night that the lake is only at 42% of capacity.

I sure hope this weather pattern breaks. If it dosen't I'm pretty sure I am going to leave Texas this year. I just can not take another oppressive summer like the last 2. Seeing all of the dead tress and grass is just to depressing. Being around healthy green vegetation make me feel better.
