    Just thought I'd start a fun thread to talk about your favourite music!
    My musical taste usually stays within the "pop" boundaries and rarely strays :K I love Rihanna, The Saturdays, Girls Aloud, The Wanted, One Direction, Victoria Duffield, Dia Frampton... etc.!
    So, what are YOUR favourite artists/genres/whatever/etc. ? :slight_smile:

    I really like everything but country. I really like certain music on certain days. For example: today I am mostly listening to alt rock.

    My friend absolutely HATES anybody who says "I listen to everything", but to a degree, I do. That doesn't mean I LIKE everything, but I've found things I like in each genre. These are all folders on my iTunes.

    * Modern Rock
    * Me - songs I liked while growing up from 1973-1990.
    * Number One - songs that were #1 in America sometime between 1890 and today.
    * 90s
    * 80s
    * 70s
    * Oldies - hit songs from 1964-1970.
    * Gold - hit songs from 1955-1963.
    * Standards - hit songs from 1890-1954.
    * Classical
    * Classical E - a subfolder of medieval, renaissance and "early music".
    * Jazz
    * World
    * Workout - uptempo songs I listen to while exercising.
    * Chill - lower tempo songs and ballads when I'm relaxing.
    * Local - all music from Colorado artists.
    * Retro - punk, post-punk, new wave, and alternative from 1977-1995.
    * Country - all "classic" country from before 1970.
    * Inst - instrumental pop tunes from 1955-1985.
    * KOIT - elevator music. Named after the station in my hometown that played it while I was groiwng up.
    * Shorts - songs that are less than 1:30 in length. Long story why I have this, but it's fun to listen to on shuffle.

    This isn't to say I listen to all of them equally. "World" probably gets played the least, and all my most played songs are in "Me", "Workout" or "Retro".

    I like all kinds of music except for rock and country. My favorites include hip hop, r&b, rap, pop, and gospel.

    I'd say 95% of what I listen to is some kind of rock, and somewhere between 80% and 90% of that is hard rock (much of it in the form of metal, but also some alternative; most of the soft stuff is alternative, pop rock, or flat-out rock-and-roll). The remaining 5% is a strange hodgepodge of synthpop, techno, nostalgic rap songs from when I was growing up and liked rap, and an ambient neo-folk song.

    I like all sorts. I spend most of my my money on CD's (I recently ran out of room and now have a stack of CD's in addition to all the ones I have in my storage) which is something non of my friends understand because they all illegally download. I guess I mostly like indie/alt/classic rock, but I like other stuff as well. One of my favorite bands is Portishead, who are trip-hop and my best friend got me into Iron Maiden and Alice Cooper who are amazing. I also like quite a lot of old folk and acoustic blues music. My favourite bands/artists/things are

    Pixies
    Sonic Youth
    Smashing Pumpkins
    PJ Harvey
    Portishead
    Radiohead
    Galaxie 500
    Arcade Fire
    Tom Waits
    The Beach Boys

    I'm actually sad enough to have a list of my favorite albums ready but that would be a bit too much to post here.

    I listen to literally everything but (most) country music and auto-tune garbage.

    My favorite genres are a little harder to pin down... I guess the majority of time I'm shuffling between Progressive Rock, Progressive Metal, Progressive Death Metal, Death Metal, Black Metal, Symphonic Metal and/or Sym-Black Metal, Symphonic Rock, Nu Metal, Jazz Metal/Jazz Fusion, and Classical genres.

    It's not uncommon for me to go from a Lady Gaga song to some random Black Metal artist on shuffle/Pandora though :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:.

    I've been accused of having indie leanings, and much of what I listen to is in the nebulous "alternative" persuasion. That said, I really do listen to a wide range, and I'm even warming up to genres I'd previously written off, like folk and hip-hop. I still strongly dislike most rap and pop.

    My favorite band is MuteMath at the moment, and they began as experimental electronic rock and have since added blues and Southern rock to their sound.

    I'm kinda all over the place really.

    My music taste might not be very varied, it usually doesn't leave the rock-pop spectrum. However the only mainstream pop artist I listen to is Lady Gaga. Anyway, here's a short list:

    Florence + the Machine
    The Beatles
    Kate Bush
    Avril Lavigne
    Lady Gaga
    The Smiths
    Radiohead
    Muse
    Brandi Carlile
    Alanis Morissette
    Adele
    Paramore
    Regina Spektor
    U2
    David Bowie

    Out of these I only listen to a few really often, example Florence, which is my absolute favourite.

    Hmmm... pretty much rock. Pop rock and hard rock and sometimes indie rock, you know, ranging all the way from Daughtry to This Century. I like Chad Rubin also.

    And soul, like Jason Mraz.

    Well, I like songs that I can sing, basically it has to be within my vocal range and those artists fit in just nicely.
