I received good news at lunch,got a promotion as a head engine builder,Machine and engine machine shop supervisoir with a raise.My boss Randy took me out for lunch and told me this.I am excited and this starts next month.I still will be doing doing engine builds,setting up rear ends and fabrication work.My boss admits he made a great choice hiring me 2 years ago and always wanted to hire a female years ago which has worked out.He likes that I do come in time,tell or call him if I have a doctor's appointment or I am sick when I cannot come in ahead of time.My boss has a nickname for me: Fast Irish Bailey and I like it.I am Irish,I immigrated from Ireland from to the USA with my parents when I was 10 years old and I am glad my parents did this.I am looking forwards next month.My boss bought out an engine machine shop recently,just the equipment and wants to do the engine machine work on the spot.
Congrats! Just out of curiosity, how many people work there? Are you the only female, or are there others?
About 14 people now and there is another woman working for him,Zoe and we get along.My boss also like me becuase he has not chewed me out me out for not wearing my safety glasses and ear protection.I do wear both,I do use loud air tool such as a die ####### that is loud.My boss hates people standing around doing nothing and that is one pet peeve of his.He sees that I put my tools away,clean my work area and help my co workers if they need help if I have nothing to do.He is thinging of hiring 3 more women and I told him to go for it with my support including his wife's support.He likes me too thinking about me,I am a calm headed gal and have a humorous side.
