...same-sex marriage is legal everywhere in the United States? I bumped into this site: States that allow gay marriage, and it surprises me how many states are actually banned when it comes to gay marriage. And then I thought of this question. :3 So what do you think? I think it'll be legal within probably the next 20 or so years? Just a guess though. :3
I don't expect it to be legal in all states for YEARS, though I wish that weren't so. It will be a miracle if all states have legalized same sex marriage within 20 years, in my opinion, especially the Southern states which are often full of bigots and religious zealots.
It will be when the Millennials become dominant voters and our parents generation die (sorry, I am not saying I want mass patricide; it's just math). So I'll go with 24-28 years. That's because it actually functions as a democratic theocracy.
Yes there is File:Same sex marriage map Europe detailed.svg - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia As for the USA, I have no idea. I'm not familiar enough with everything going on there to have an opinion. Though I hope all states will allow it as soon as possible.
Here is a list of European countries where it is legal: Albania Belgium Czech Republic France Germany Greece Hungary Iceland Ireland Latvia Netherlands Norway Portugal Slovenia Spain Sweden Turkey United Kingdom Source: Status of same-sex marriage - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
-.- looks like I had to get to some other place some day, except people here make up their minds. At least I'm not being persecuted.
Not anytime soon is what I say. As long as there are Evangelical Christians in power they will always fight same-sex marriage tooth and nail until it's banned everywhere. Not illegal but BANNED. I don't mind people having other viewpoints, that's your right but when you make laws that FORCE your viewpoint on others I DO mind.
Even the Evangelicals of our generation are coming around. Opposition to homosexuality is primarily about age demographics.
Those evangelical christians are the worst kind. I don't understand how their viewpoint can be so outdated and ignorant. Um, hello? What age are you living at? Also this is off topic but I read few days ago about how the religious right are trying to ban teaching evolution in classrooms. Seriously when will they realize that while it might be okay to believe what you want but not shove them to other people? Also get some education please. Evolutionary biology is the closest thing we have to an undeniable fact about life on earth.
I hope soon. I hate that our government is so fucking narrow-minded. Religion and government should be kept separate, and our country stands for equality of EVERYONE.
I believe it will be when people understand there is supposed to be a separation between religion and politics.
geez, people. this isn't 1985, it's 2012. there's states where gay marriage is legal and now it's a national debate. you guys really think that it's going to be a long time from now? really people? i think that the whole gay marriage thing will be legal nationwide by 2016 or by the end of the decade. people may still be homophobic but i think that people are starting to become a bit more tolerant as in they really don't care.
I honestly think it'll be legal everywhere in the country by 2020. The younger generation just doesn't care about it as much as the older generation. Most young conservatives I've met think it should be legal.
