Anybody here also an Eagle Scout... and gay or a non-cis gendered person? Cause I am! Got my three palms, Order of the Arrow, Firecrafter... all that shizz. Some of my favorite memories I have are from the Boy Scouts. Hiking in the New Mexico mountains or canoeing in Quetico or sailing in the Caribbean to Key West.

Yeah, they discriminate against gays and I wouldn't support them now... but I didn't know then and I had a blast. It sucks that they keep non-hetero and non-cis gendered kids from being involved. Everyone would benefit from the experiences I got to live though the Boy Scouts. Let pressure 'em to open up, eh? Well, I guess that's a thread for another time.

Right now, I wanna know I'm not the only gay Eagle Scout.

Where in New Mexico did you hike? I've got a few favorite hikes there.

I never did Scouts, but I kinda wish I did.

Fomer Eagle Scout, quite when I was 16.
For some reason everything became more forceful and mandatory instead of free spirited and fun.
    Great memories though.

Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimarron, New Mexico. Went 126 miles through the mountains in 14 days... which isn't bad when you break it down but some days were longer than others, I'll tell you what.

If you need help planning your project or anything Scout related, let me know. 5 of my friends are also Eagles, so you pretty much have 6 super Scouts at your disposal.

Nice. I went snow camping not far from there around Angel Fire. I'm hoping to do a similar (although shorter) loop in Colorado this summer.
