Be warned, other than general sharing, I'm not sure this post actually has a point... lol... but feel free to follow up with other dumb conversations you may have had or stupid questions you may have been asked by people who just weren't getting the "no she/he/ze is ACTUALLY gay/bi/trans/etc" idea...

    now, on to my story:

So after class, a couple of friends are teasing me about my crush on this girl in our class. One of them had noticed what looks like a wedding ring on her finger (fml :frowning2: ) and I was joking that once a woman has sex with a woman, she'll never go back to men.

And the one guy says, "Well I don't know, I think in about ten years you'll be married with three kids."

I decided to play dumb and said, "Maybe, but I want to meet the right woman and spend some time getting to know her before I try to make her my wife."

so he says: "Well, no, I mean like to a guy."

"I don't like guys, sorry, but guys are missing some essential parts as far as I'm concerned."

"Guys aren't missing parts, they have more parts!"

"If you think guys are so great, why don't you marry one?"

haha anyway the conversation went on and tbh I was a little bit irritated at the simple not-getting-it attitude they had... ok maybe even a little pissed off by the end, and definitely uncomfortable - but in retrospect... I need more sassy, turn-the-tables, make THEM as uncomfortable as they are making me type come backs.

That's hilarious. I'll have to remember that one if a homophobic woman tries to harass me.

Good response. Probably didn't change his mind, but it's still funny.

So far every older adult I've come out to as preferring women has said something along the lines of "you might still change your mind!" It gets very annoying very quickly. Thankfully, of the people my age who I've come out to directly (i.e. not the people who would only know via Facebook), none have said anything like that.

Also, last semester I usually hung out with a group of gamer guys. They were decent enough, but, as a gay woman, it was a little awkward, to say the least. The two most amusing conversations I overheard:

    1. One (straight) guy thought he knew everything there is to know about sexual orientation and declared that one of the other girls in the group, who previously identified as bi but had recently come out as being gay, truly was bi because she had had relationships with men in the past. He then went on a rant about pansexuality that frankly made no sense.

    2. Another guy once said that he respected gay people because they knew what they were doing. What exactly were they doing, according to him? Not reproducing and therefore not adding to the world's overpopulation problem.

Unfortunately I couldn't come up with a witty response to either.

One of my friends and his twin tried to convince me that all gay people were just the opposite gender trapped in ones body. Then I came out to them. Their views did not change.

I was camping with my friend and her friend (girl) that is are age was there and my friend said that she asked if I was gay and my friend said I am and she said, "how does he know" and my friend said, "..because he likes guys?" When I got told that, I laughed so hard.

Then, her the friends mom asked my friend If i was gay, again my friend said i was. Then the friends mom said, "how does he know?" and my friend said, "he likes guys" and the friends mom said, "well he might change his mind when he gets something shoved up his butt!" and my friend just laughed. When I heard that one, I died laughing. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: silly straight people.

haha might seem crude but I would be tempted to ask her if it changed her mind when she had something shoved in her...

these guys were trying to tell me that I could do everything with a guy that I could do with another girl...

witty responses are not always necessary... just sometimes I wonder if these people consider how intrusive - and how foolish - the things they are saying make them appear...

loving reading these, though! it's good if after all the stupid comments have been made, we can still laugh about them.
