So I just found out about this a few weeks ago: your golden birthday is when you turn the age that matches the date of your birth. For example, my birthday is on the 22nd and I'm turning 22 this year, so it's my golden birthday! Has anyone heard of any golden traditions? Is there something special that people typically do on their golden birthdays? People have told me to just "make it count," but that's very vague and means I'll probably just kick it. What do you think? Have you had your golden birthday yet?
I've had mine on 23rd February in the year 2009. Didn't really do anything on that day, not that I do on any of my birthdays. It's a normal day to me. Don't know if there are any special or specific traditions when you celebrate your golden birthday... oh, and for the South Africans that speak Afrikaans, it's called "Kroon Verjaarsdag". Lol. Just so they know what you're talking about, if they don't already.
Well, I missed out on my "Golden" Birthday.... Mine is December 16th. Alas, I'm 20 already. Never heard of this before. So, I'd say, just milk your golden birthday for all it's worth. Make sure everyone knows how special this day is, and that it'll never happen ever again, and you deserve something really special!!! Or y'know, just toast to another year. Celebrate in good company. Whatever!
Mine passed, unfortunately--my birthday is on the 20th day, and I'm 26. On a sort-of related note, the Chinese (and perhaps all others who observe the Chinese zodiac) do give special treatment to people on their 12th, 24th, etc. birthdays (and the year thereafter) because that's when the zodiac completed one or more whole cycles since their births. I remember that I was told to wear something red on me at all times that year.
XD Mine will be in 2015. Should be as bland and boring as the rest of my birthdays if my life continues the same way. XD
Mine too is in 2016 when I turn 28. Hopefully working for ABC News by then maybe a man can dream anyway...
I always thought that this was called your Champagne Year and your golden birthday was your 50th. Either way, I was born on the 2nd
