Okay on this site I have noticed the words genderqueer and genderfluid. First of all what do they even mean because until this point I had never heard them before. Is there a difference between the two?
Genderqueer (GQ; alternatively non-binary) is a catch-all term for gender identities other than man and woman, thus outside of the gender binary and heteronormativity.[1] People who identify as genderqueer may think of themselves as one or more of the following: both man and woman (bigender, pangender); neither man nor woman (genderless, agender); moving between genders (genderfluid); third gender or other-gendered; includes those who do not place a name to their gender; having an overlap of, or blurred lines between, gender identity and sexual orientation. ---------- Post added 6th Jul 2012 at 12:39 AM ---------- how's that
As rabbit1 already posted, I always assumed, and kind of still do associate, Genderqueer = agendered. Genderfluid essentially means shifting between the two genders into what the genderfluid person feels they are at the current time. King x
I consider genderqueer to be a blanket term. The same way that somebody can be bi- or pan-sexual, on a spectrum between straight and gay, there's a spectrum between male and female. That's what most of these terms address.
