I was asked again to speak in the Human Sexuality class at the college. I didn't even go to college so this is quite an honor for me and I enjoy it very much. The students are very responsive and ask good questions. If any of you are college age, you might consider volunteering to do this. Every human sexuality class talks about homosexuality and it is a required class for many majors. Its a great way to tell your story and help people understand it a little better.
Aaagghhh, social anxiety!!!! No way! I can answer anything you care to throw at me but don't ask me to show my face or let people hear my voice! Just thinking about it makes my blood go cold and gets me hyperventilating. Thank goodness there are people like you Becky doing all this good for those of us who can't. :eusa_clap :eusa_clap :eusa_clap
I wanna do that!! But I'm only 17... Aww I'm sure there must be something like that here in Cape Town.
they have that at my college. but i dont think they have guest speakers. not unless ur in the class and decide to raise ur hand and talk about it
My friend actually suggested that I take a class like this here for my major. It was so random but kinda awesome that she mentioned it. Apparently her brother took it and loved it.
I think my college is too small to hold a class like this. Although I did have a friend say she attended a Human sexuality class in a university several cities away and she messaged me with a big e-hug and told me it must've been hard to come out. I guess she never realized the extent LGBT people go through until she attended that class.
I took Human Sexuality at my school last year. It was interesting. Two different days involved LGBT speakers coming to class and telling their stories, then answering questions later on. They had some pretty remarkable stories, and they had to share them to a lecture hall of probably about 300-400 students. I'd die if I had to do that. xD
It went great! I've done it numerous times. The atmosphere is always a little different. In fact, I'm doing it again this Thursday. If any of you get the opportunity to do this, you should. It really gives people insight into how hard it is to be gay or transgender.
Good luck with the talk, I hope it goes well! I'm in a human sexuality class right now (I go to UCSB) and it's my favorite class of the quarter. Even though the class focuses heavily on heterosexuality (duh, it's a human sexuality class and that only makes sense) but the professors to a good job including homosexuality into the a lot of course material (like with sex therapy, sexual behavior, relationships, etc) and next week is the homosexuality week, which should be interesting to see how the professors handle it (they're married and 60 years old, but fantastic teachers)
