If they wanted to put a daper on abortion than just lower the amount of weeks a women could abort. Not insult their citizens with this illogical explanation.

They actually did a decent job at it. People didn't "find out" until after they passed it. Its ridics.

Most people just thought it was a bill to "stop" abortion....oh, people amuse me -_-

So if someone murders me, then they can be done for two murders if my hypothetical boyfriend says we were planning to have sex the next week? (I know abortion isn't murder, but some states have laws to the effect of the killing of a pregnant woman is the killing of two people.)

Arizona ought to be up there for an award for the most stupidity found in a single state.

This is the state with the crazy, renegade sheriff, the anti-Hispanic law, a crazy conservative governor, and now this. (And probably more I'm not remembering at the moment.)

My limited experience with Arizonans (lived there for a short while back in the 90s) was that they seemed pretty together, and there are two excellent universities there... so why on earth did people vote for these dumbasses who are now passing these ridiculous laws?

Could be those anti-immigrant nuts who've driven Arizona beyond the edge of sanity. A good many of those people are probably racists and/or gun nuts as well, and we all know which party those groups favor.

I'd argue that Texas is pretty close to Arizona in terms of being cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. I mean, its governor is Rick Perry, a guy who ran for President without being able to name three federal agencies he'd get rid of if elected. The education system in Texas is a joke, just like the governor.

The GOP doesn't think there's a War on Women. They don't call it that, of course, but that doesn't mean what they're doing doesn't constitute a war on women's rights. A major political party that makes the banning of abortion in ALL cases part of its official party platform is waging a war on women. Period.

Oh, people. This is the least of what happens here these days. You should be here for the so-called "(anti-)abortion weeks" on college campuses.

    Wheee!

This topic is full of irony. I have seen it presented on multiple other forums. Everyone starts calling the law makers stupid because they don't understand the wording, nor the scientific definition of pregnancy. Look, you guys are all wrong... you have to actually understand the scientific backround behind the decision to understand why the government defines pregnancy this way.
