http://www.newsweek.com/id/81305/page/1 The article is from last month, but I hadn't seen it before today. It's so sad that it takes things of this nature to stimulate lawmakers...
That made me teary eyed Thats so horrible ~ We have civil partnerships in England though, so hopefully we have more or less the same rights as marriage. It shows how an ordinary persons life can change to extraordinary - I hope she does alot of good
I'm sick of all these straight people thinking they and only they are allowed this wonderful privilage (that a good percentage of the population take for granted....Britney Spears 55 hour marraige anyone?) This makes me angry.
Those stories really make me scared about my future. That's why it is very important for EVERY GLBT person to have everything like visitation rights written down and recorded with lawyers, and to be able to prove it quickly in a situation like that couple's.
Gay marriage is still illegal in Australia... Australia is so "multi-cultural" and "free", welcoming to people from other nations and cultures but not to 1/10th of its own population...
Every GLBT person also needs to fight for equality, rather than leaving it for someone else to handle. If we want equality we must be heard. We must also awaken the silent supporters and bring forth a new era of equal rights under the law... An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere, and those who can afford to lose justice are the only ones that can afford not to fight for equal protection under the law for everyone.
