Can you tell just by looking at someone's face and facial expressions if they are gay? Because I have been able to identify several people in real life by their faces before they came out, as well as actor Jim Parsons just by watching his face on Big Bang Theory before I found out he was gay.

It's possible. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: There aren't any logical explanations (yet), but it has happened to me before.

Well, I wouldn't know as I have never met a gay person IRL before. But I'm sure that if you ask the right questions and say the right things and observe the responses, you will eventually see somthing.

Yes, I think it is possible although rare that people just look gay. I have never been able to tell if a woman looks gay, and in my personal experience, there was only one guy I thought definitely looked gay, and it turned out that he was. It's a very real thing.

I mean, come on, Alan Turing.

Research is consistent in showing, from as much as only showing eyes and facial features (no eyebrows or hair due), that people overall identify whether or not one is gay at a rate greater than chance - and particularly so do you see this in other gay people.

And I don't know about gay men, but I have seen research showing a, overall, somewhat consistently unique facial structure amongst lesbians as opposed to straight women.

Well, Jim Parsons isn't the best of examples; I figured it out a few minutes in, and my sister had him pinned in about 2 seconds :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

some people you can just tell, but then again I think that it is a combination of action voice and appearance

There are physical features that correlate somewhat with sexuality. Just like gender expression correlates somewhat with sexuality. Just like the finger ratio thing correlates somewhat to sexuality.

Because all of these things are influenced by the same hormones during prenatal development, but perhaps at slightly different times--and of course, different genetic combinations will respond to the same hormones in different ways.

None of these things will be 100% accurate in predicting sexuality--they aren't part of being gay. But gay people are more likely to have these other attributes, and people with any one of said attributes are more likely to be gay. (And also more likely to have any of the other attributes.)

its more of a question of is it accurate rather than sayings its either possible or just a fallacy, cause in reality you can tell, such example is Jack Mackenroth, now thats a gay face, compared to someone like Neil Patrick Harris, probably not.

you shouldnt rule something out just because you think it applies to everyone, some people can, some people cant, some might be obvious, some arent.

There was this one boy in our school who I always thought was gay just because of his face and expressions. He came out to me this year :icon_bigg

Funnily enough when I saw How I Met Your Mother for the first time I just knew he was gay. I'm not sure why but I just knew!

Agreed OP on your examples & some others posted in this thread. I think my gaydar might be good? lol

For some reason, I figured Frasiers Brother in the show was gay, and i commented to my g-ma once 'I bet people crack jokes about him being gay' and she responded 'actually he is gay'

Aaaw s'alright, same as me. Its impossible to know if they're gay or not; I know with the way I dress or act, its difficult to tell I like girls. At least I hope it isnt obvious.
