I've written a few songs. The first was actually a poem that I put to music, which helps if you work well with words you haven't written. Try poetry that is in meter of some sort, or has a easily identifiable beat, which can help with phrasing and timing.
Do you have anything at all? A tiny seedling idea somewhere in your brain?

I'm not a songwriter but I do like to write.
So one suggestion, stop thinking about writing songs and just write.
Freestyle write for now, then get technical later.
    Trust your subconscious self.

I like music too. My song writing abilities suck. Also I'm not into lyrical music for the most part.

I mainly listen to OSTs, techno, classical, and even soundtracks for OSTs.

I think music is a lost art nowadays, especially with music not having any meaning.

Also, I second Joanna's advice about song writing.
