To be honest, I don't have much to say about this restaurant, but I'm thinking some of you might.

Have your friends dragged you there? Do you detest going? Do you have any funny stories involving it?

I've been there three times with a group of friends, and it makes me uncomfortable because I'm closeted. Luckily, last time I went there nothing significant happened. I try to act somewhat interested to eat there, but not enough to sound perverted. It's hard to balance.

I only went in there to meet some friends after dinner, we did not stay there, thank goodness. I kept my eyes to the floor most of the time and did not get a good look at any of the women. From what little I saw of the restuarant I did not like it, those girls arent my type, heh.

We had one here in Vancouver but (yay!) it shut. I read this really interesting academic article by a woman who went undercover at "Bazooms" (the name she used to "disguise" the fact she was obviously talking about Hooters) and it certainly makes you think about what goes on and why women would want to work there. At the end of the day, though, I think it's completely based on sexist stereotypes being profited on by a very nasty form of capitalism and I'm really happy I've never had to be in one.

I have never been to Hooters (we don't have them in the UK). I went to a lap dancing club once with a group of people from a training course I was attending. There were about six or seven of us. Since I think some of them had wondered about me, when we were discussing where to go before we went there I said it wasn't my thing but would be good for a laugh, so I think everyone sussed. One of our group was a straight girl who said it wasn't her scene thing, and somehow we ended up getting a lap dancer for her.

She had a good sense of humour, as did the lap dancer, and it was all taken in fun as it was intended. Everyone found it hilarious. The lap dancer received a generous tip (as we all chipped in) and the girl also bought her a drink and they ended up chatting for a few minutes.

I know that doesn't answer the question about this type of place, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

The place was expensive to get into, drinks were expensive and poor quality, and the cost of a lap dance was quite high too. Someone is clearly making a lot of money out of it, and I doubt it's the girls who work there.

I hope we brightened this lap dancer's day a bit though, compared to the usual lusting men who are trying to grope without being seem by the bouncers.

Generally the place seemed seedy and we didn't stay once we had finished our drinks.

    One word:

    Chauvinist.

Hooters and such places that make only female workers wear such demeaning outfits that make them seem like nothing more than eye candy and not human beings is sicking. It digusts me.

Thats all i have to say.

What about male strippers and escorts?

Escorts arent just eye candy, they help people who can't get dates make life a little easier. Male strippers, a grey line there, all i can say is tushé.
