So earlier this year I was on holiday in Tunisia, a country where homosexual activity is punishable by 3 years imprisonment, and I saw the most unexpected thing.. I was walking through one of the ports there and 2 Tunisian men walked past me with their head held high, holding hands, and then a couple of minutes later I saw another 2 men pass by holding hands, and I thought that was so courageous and brave, I mean I wouldn't dare do that where I live, let alone in a country where being lgbt is illegal and the best part was I didn't even catch anyone giving them a dirty look, although this was a tourist oriented place there were other local's walking around and running shops, and I didnt catch a single person giving them a dissaproving look.
In some other cultures holding hands does not have romantic implications. I would suspect that was the case here.
