Sikhism and homosexuality?

Discussion in 'Chit Chat' started by SriManayaDasan, Sep 25, 2012.

  1. I'm on a bit of a spiritual journey and I've come across Sikhism. It seems like a good religion and philosophy, but I'm not 100% sure if homosexuality is out right condemned in it.

Does anyone know the general attitude towards homosexuality in Sikhism? I read that the scriptures really don't say anything explicitly about homosexuality and it's really more of peoples personal attitudes towards it. How true is this?

I know quite a few Sikhs and as I understand it homosexuality is frowned upon to a great extent, although I don't think it's outright banned.

  3. The Guru Granth Sahib (their official holy book) doesn't condemn it or even mention it. So the views vary.

Views vary, but I think Sikhs are amazing. Their headdresses are classy and artful. I love the Kirpan and the outlook that it symbolizes.
