So, I was going through some of the documents on my PC, and I found a poem I wrote a year or two ago. It had to do with what I was dealing with inside as far as being Trans, and where I wanted to be. Since it applies, I thought I'd share it.

    Please be kind

    Bound by my heartstrings
    Safe, close to my chest
    Away from the danger
    This creature finds rest

    Battered and broken
    Beaten and worn
    It waits to find peace
    It waits to be born

    Alive without substance
    Existing apart
    Without form, still feeling
    I end with its start

    Bound by my heartstrings
    Kept from life’s dance
    It must remain dormant
    I can’t take that chance

    Desperately clawing
    It seeks to be freed
    It fights and it battles
    In weakness it pleads

    It siphons my life force
    The spirit grows cold
    It clashes, still fighting
    The conflict grows old

    Bound by my heartstrings
    Was this the right way
    Waging this war
    Acting this play

    A secret once kept
    A story untold
    A path through the mountains
    With no hand to hold

North and South have no meaning
    There’s no West or East
    Just me on my own
    Confronting this beast

    Bound by my heartstrings
    Once, but no longer
    As it flows out
    The spirit grows stronger

    Where once there were peaks
    And fear-clouded doubt
    The sunlight, so calming
    Begins to peek out

    The battle has ended
    We walk hand in hand
    Out in the world
    Together we stand

I don't write poetry very often, but on occasion the mood strikes me. I remember what I was feeling pretty vividly when I wrote this though and wanted to share it with the rest of you. Hope you enjoyed.

  2. Wow...

I'm not even exaggerating, this is legit one of the best poems I've ever read, including those by published writers. I would love to see it in song form. Although you wrote it from the perspective of being trans, I can relate to it not only on that level, but on so many others as well. You're making me feel inspired to write.

You're making me blush here

Thank you. I was able to post it a while back elsewhere for my friends to read because it can be related to on different levels. When they asked me what it was about, I simply told them it was about duality and depression (not a lie  ) but didn't go any deeper with it. I thought it would be nice to post it here where I could be completely honest with what it meant to me and what it's about.

Thank you. It means a lot to me that people like it. I tend to write more in the fiction area. On the occasions that I do write poetry, it's because I'm in a very specific mood and emotional place. Although the fiction I write is important to me, and a very real part of me. My poetry though is a much more personal part of me, and it makes me feel extremely good when people can connect on that level.

I do promise though that when or if I write anything else that's relevant, I will post it here.

Now I know the true potential of a human writer. That was a great poem! I really did enjoy it. I can even relate to it. What I love about it is that you don't even have to mention that what you are talking about directaly, yet it carries so much meaning.

    Write more!
