I can't speak much for the Bible's stance on slavery, but I will mention that the Bible allows and sometimes commands certain deeds and activities that are illegal in the United States, and condemns certain things that are still legal in the United States. Given the ratification of the First Amendment, the Bible is not a valid basis for laws in this country, so the Bible's stance on it is moot. Besides which, some interpretations of the Bible are against slavery.

Second, slavery wasn't in the Constitution! It wasn't Constitutionally banned at first because the South wouldn't have ratified the Constitution if it was; the issue was sidestepped, and thus slavery was allowed, to keep from dividing the fledgling nation.

Lastly, asking why there was no war about it until 1861 is absolutely stupid. Suppose there was, he'd still be asking, "well why wasn't there a war about it until 1800?" Not to mention that despite the lack of an all-out war, there were plenty of clashes between abolitionists and anti-abolitionists prior to the Civil War.

there are two paths: the liberal path is live a life in service of the well-beings and rights of others.

Then there is a conservative path, which is devoted to the notion that one does not have to be beholden to facts or truth, because you can make up your own truth, wrap it in the mantle of God, then demonize all who dont follow your 'truth', even though the bible you pound your fist on says those you demonize are right, and you are wrong.
