October 11 is National Coming out Day. Would you rather come out on Oct 11 or Martin Luther King Day or another day?
I'm coming out to some people on NCOD, but that is because I feel that this day gives me motivation to do so. I've tried to on other days, but I get too nervous and end up backing out if it.
Another day. Mainly because I don't feel there's anyone I should come out to just now, as in anyone who I see frequently enough, but also because I'd rather go at my own pace rather than on a pre-determined day.
To me, National Coming Out Day feels more like a "Celebrate the Fact that You're Gay" day. I don't know any people who actually used NCOD to come out. It's kind of just a day where you can "be prideful" about your LGBT-ness. At my college, there's NCOD celebration at the dining center. Everything in the room's decorated in rainbow, there's rainbow cake, and all that jazz. And people blast Diana Ross's "I'm Coming Out" from their dorm rooms haha. It's pretty funny. Otherwise, I haven't heard any stories of people really using it as their coming out day.
Im pretty much all out and that was before I even knew there was a day dedicated to it lol I guess any day works plus it pretty much just rolls of the tongue now
I voted another day because while I like to honor National Coming Out Day, I don't have a new circle of folks to be out to. Besides, every day should be a coming out day.
well, i dunno. even if you don't come out, you can still root for others that aren't out to come out.
I came out to my siblings on new year's eve...lol. It was part of my new years resolution, so...got that done quickly
Well I plan on "coming out" tomorrow to my family and friends, but that's only because I hate fitting to conformity. Everyone will be all like "Why didn't you come out yesterday when you were supposed to?" And I'll be like "F*** conformity." Let everyday be National Coming Out Day. Or better yet, let it be a world where one doesn't need to "come out". That is the world that I dream for.
