I was wondering if gay & lesbian prostitutes are legal in other country? I mean, it's pretty banned here in Phil. Is it the same with others?
Here, we have the unenlightened view that if you punish prostitution, it will go away. Instead, it just makes sex workers even more unsafe. In what I would call the perfect world, there would be next to zero sex work, which would only be done by those who really want to do so (and there are a few). But until such time as we can change the conditions that cause people to think sex work is their only viable option, the least we can do is stop criminalizing sex workers and increase access to resources they can use to protect their health.
Prostitution is not legal everywhere in Nevada; only in certain counties and only in brothels. If anyone is caught in the act (that is not in a brothel that is in a county where prostitution is legal) they are arrested and charges are brought against them. Also, if the population of a county is over 400,000 that county can not legalize prostitution Edit To answer your original question (sort of anyway), there are some female prostitutes in Nevada that will sleep with other women
Well it's from the stance of if you regulate it, you would then discourage it from happening. The prostitutes in Nevada are regularly tested for STD's from my understanding and pay taxes like you and I. Escorting is where the real money is lol.
I couldn't agree with you more! Most people I discuss this with (especially the women) seem to think I'm crazy!
No, you're not crazy. You just know what's up. Unfortunately, there are many people who identify as feminists who are not aware of the current debates and conversations about sex work and other issues. This is something that one sees fairly often with people new to feminist theory who think that the second wave was everything. We've moved pretty much past that, but of course, not everyone. So for the underread, prohibiting sex work entirely would seem feminist.
It's said that prostitution is the oldest profession... Prostitution is something I think is more or less in every nation. So it doesn't make any sense to me to cover your ears and shout loudly and pretend that the legal system makes it disappear because clearly that is not the case. I am all for the legalization of prostitution if it means that it can be tightly regulated, to ensure that STDs are controlled and sex workers have a safe environment. In Canada prostitution is extremely murky legally. Recent court rulings in Ontario have set precedent for laws more open to the idea of fully legal prostitution. LGBT prostitutes are treated equally as hetero prostitutes as far as I know.
Its illegal in South Africa. There are groups that have been fighting to change this because the prostitutes are subject to abuse (with no consequence) from their clients, pimps and even the police (since they have no rights ), and because just flat-out banning things doesn't work in modern times. I'm sure it will be decriminalised in the future though.
Something interesting happens here: prostitutions itself is ilegal, but prostitution as a profession is regulated by law. It's sort of "you can't prostitute yourself, but if you do, you must follow these rules". By the way, this applies whoever is the prostitute and the client, so gay and lesbian prostitues are included (transvestite prostitutes too).
It is legal in Australia, but you can't just walk the streets soliciting. There are regulations. Unfortunately, unionisation is illegal. New Zealand has a far better policy imo.
i think its legal in the uk but brothels are illegal. i think. then again idk. i remember watching a documentary on it though ages back.
it's legal here (Switzerland). I know because I got a joboffer I declined... It's nothing I'd really do
Prostitution is illegal in the United States except for a few brothels in the state of Nevada. There is a documentary on youtube that shows a glimpse into Nevada's brothels. Type in Louis Theroux and the brothel
