I've always thought that porn stars were people to be like (image wise) body, looks. Porn stars are always great looking..... Ignoring what there job is but I always thought that pin stars had the perfect bodies and looks. Same as models I've always thought they were the people to look up to, people love them and look at them all the time people work to look like them. Does anyone have the same feelings I do, now I don't know of this is shallow or really stupid but I've always wanted to k ow if I'm the only one thinking this way. That's pretty much why I'm posting this just to see what you all think (!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)(!)

No, I tend to look up to ordinary people. You can't judge a porn stars personality and morals, so I don't really see how you can see them as role models tbh.

Actually, I think porn stars aren't always good looking or have great bodies at all.

There's such a wide variety of different categories; old, young, smooth, hairy, muscled, thin, chubby.. There's really no one type of "porn star." And even if you look at one particular category, it seems like most of the guys are just ordinary guys, not particularly good looking, just your average guy.

The only difference between you and a porn star is that they're comfortable enough and willing to show themselves having sex on camera. That's it, really. Other than that you can't know anything about them. You don't know their personality, or interests just by looking at them having sex, so there's not really anything to look up to.

    Well... here are some thoughts:

    1. Quite a few porn performers (both male and female) have absolutely miserable self-image, and very low self-esteem. Many of the ones most people would consider the most attractive and beautiful see themselves as ugly (though they rarely admit this publicly), fat, not toned enough, not pretty enough, whatever it may be. We may find that ridiculous, but they honestly believe it. While there are a few that are genuinely happy and well adjusted, that's the exception rather than the rule.

    2. A lot of models in the porn and fashion industries (likely as a direct result of the low self-esteem) have serious issues with drug addiction, eating disorders, sex addiction or other unhealthy sexual behaviors, and other unhealthy patterns.

    3. The modeling industry and the porn industry (on the whole; there are a few exceptions) do an enormous disservice to society as a whole, and have a marked impact on the body image, self-esteem, and shame of the people who view, identify with, and relate to porn models and fashion models. As I said above, the majority of these models (both fashion and porn) are extremely unhealthy, and their "beautiful" bodies, which are heavily airbrushed, photoshopped, made up, and otherwise altered in print and video media, are virtually unattainable by ordinary people, contributing to an overwhelming culture of belief in a look that isn't possible for most people.

So, in general, these are *terrible* role models.

Now... that said, you're hardly in the minority. A lot of people look up to models, and put them on a pedestal so to speak. In fact, one of the more interesting things about porn models (and I suspect, fashion models as well) is that they often complain that they have a very difficult time having healthy relationships, because generally, the only people who approach them want them only for their bodies, and have little to no interest in who they are as people. And the ones who do have interest in models as people, and are emotionally healthier, are often afraid to approach them, for fear that the models are "out of their league."

Of course there are plenty of pretentious, insecure models and porn models who will only go out with someone they consider equally attractive... but the healthier ones are often frustrated that they cannot find anyone who is genuinely interested in who they are, because their appearance gets in the way.

I had no clue they had these problems :O That's terrible :frowning2: I've always looked up to them on the way that they take care of them selfs I had no clue that they had these issues. I just always remember my mom buying all those magazines my father is very strong an fit my brother is strong and fit I'm thiner then them and I'm trying to gain muscle but everyone in my family even aunts and uncles are so thin an fit that I've only ever looked up to people who can stay in shape and look good. It's sad I know

    My thoughts exactly.
Now I cannot tell you what the "average" porn star looks like because I don't look at porn. But even if they have the perfect bodies, their minds clearly leave a lot to be desired.

tl;dr to what Chip says, it's "shopped"

however, i do envy the devotion people in porn/models to work their body. I don't have that devotion and strict discipline for that. GIMME INTERNET AND GAMES.

though I wish more (gay) porn stars share their workout plans and shit lol

But they're not in shape. They're way too thin as a result of very unhealthy diets/exercise routines.
In shape means being physically healthy. Being overweight is not healthy and is unfit, and the exact same thing goes for being underweight.
Personally I think models, in particular female models (because the norm for male models tends to be more realistic), look ridiculous.

(This is about models, because again, most porn stars aren't any different from any one of us)

  12. I personally do not look up to porn stars/Models
But I can admire or respect them
If they love what they do (or who they do) then good for them!

Alex, I suggest perusing this article on how male models make themselves photogenic. A few quotes:

Well I can tell you the reason you can't put on muscle. You are not eating enough. You pretty much have to have a surplus of calories to put on muscle. Which means you will put some fat, which is why body builders go through bulking and cutting phases.

I have to ask. Why do you see this as the model of perfection? Why not someone who cures a disease, or someone who is happy and has a large family. You don't have to answer if you don't want to. Please don't feel like you have to defend yourself, I am just encouraging you to dig deeper and think about it for a moment.

I had no clue they did that :O my moms friends daughter is now a model starting off her career with ford models and she lost so much weight she is over 6 feet and looks so scary thin. She is so beautiful she used to have a great body now is like a stick. I would never go to those extreme measures holy. I can't believ the modeling Indistry does that! What agency did he work for this guy?

By "you", I don't know if you mean all the agreeing posters or the OP.

But for me, I have admiration in different angle. physically I admire the perfection of those fit people. intellectually... I have yet to read biography of scientists that inspire me lol. (ok, one of the nobel prize winners actually left one guy out since you can only award 3 people. and that guy I think don't even have a job in the profession when I was reading it)

(Currently I have yet to find a person that I find perfectly perfect for everything I look for...)

    Starfish,

I don't know why I've grown up around modeling magazines and being thin my whole life. My mom is thin, my dad is fit, my brother is fit, my grand mother is thin, my aunts are all thin some with eating disorders but my family is this way. And when I tea thy article it scared me because I had no clue that's what models do to them selfs :O it actually made me sad ad almost instantly changed my opinion on that industry. I've always tried to stay thin I had an eating disorder when I was younger and then I gained weight after I got help and felt so fat so I lost te weight when I got to high school. I was bullied for being to thin when I had an ED and then bullied for being to fat when I got help. At that point I cried everyday I hated everything about me I was disgusted in my self. So once I got to high school I told my self in losing this weight and I will keep it off at any cost which is what I have done. I eat a lot of small meals a day and healthy food so I am eating I just can't imagine eating more then what I already eat. But I mean I'm healthy since I work out right? I run for 30 min straight so I think I'm healthy I'm not fainting any more. I did once and that was because I was feeling sick and didn't want to eat but I eat everyday 5 meals. Idk now I feel ashamed after that article. I feel terrible for thinking that way it's made me really sad (in a good way) I had no clue that the industry made models do that :O I can't support that at ALL infact in totally against it now >:O that makes me mad that they do that to people and that I've been buying in to there terrible actions when I buy there clothes :O. I Thought that European models had to prove they were naturally thin though now? Right?
