This is why I don't like the electoral college stuff. Especially because it differs from state to state. We really should just tally up all the votes and see who has more.

    Highly doubt this happens.

Though, I will say I'm not a big fan of the electoral college system.

According to Nate Silver, math geek and election statistics savant (and poof!) who runs the fivethirtyeight.com blog at the NY Times, that scenario has less than a 5% likelihood of happening.

Given that Nate was a wunderkind in baseball stats, accurately predicting game and series outcomes for years... and correctly predicted the outcome in 49 of 50 states in 2008 (1 point off on the one he missed)... I personally trust his analyses of the various polls and data more than anyone else.

I think the news media is running out of dramatic stuff to publish about the election and so are making up drama where there really isn't any.

As of 4:08 p.m. today, according to the Huffington Post electoral map, along with electoral-vote.com, Polltrack.com, the Economist, etc. Obama has Ohio by 3% more than Romney, 49 to 46. I know it can change but we'll have to see. Currently by electoral map, Obama is still leading. Though please note ones like CNN, and Real Clear Politics though still showing Obama in the lead, do not have Nevada, Ohio, etc as leaning either way.

"Most polls at this moment suggest GOP nominee Mitt Romney is in the lead nationally"

I will be devastated if Romney wins. It also makes a statement about the mindset of Americans.

If he wins, *I try to stay as neutral I can with political talk here, but I have to say this* The US is screwed.

However, in regards to the topic discussion, there's been quite a few presidents that lost the popular vote. That's why in a way, I don't consider voting worth it. Though this year I will, because unlike last year, where I didn't care either way who won, this year I have an extreme opinion of who SHOULDN'T win. xD

I always thought the french system of electing presidents worked well.

They give every candidate a chance to voice themselves and have two elections.

First round, all of them go to the polls and everyone except the two top are eliminated.

Second round is head to head between the top two and both rounds are a popular vote.
