So I saw in another post that someone either keeps a tangible or mental list of whom they wish to come out to in a chronological order. I found it interesting, because now I've come out to my friends I thought to myself...'Who's next?' I'll share mine and feel free to do the same!

    1. Best friend (Female)
    2. Best friend 2 (Male)
    3. Best friend 3 (Male)
    4. Other friends/acquaintances
    5. Mum
    6. Dad
    7. Other family members

My list is pretty boring because I don't have any siblings and I don't find it important to tell those that aren't as important to me as my parents and close friends. I'm almost halfway there I guess! :icon_bigg

Good idea. Interesting to read into how far others have come with coming out.

I'm not out to many. I kind of separate into two lists, because of certain events that have happened a few years ago.

    Some years ago:
    1. Best online friend (gay male) (we 'dated' for some time, soon after. Technically my ex now)
    2. Some other people from that online community

After that my coming out process kind of stagnated and my orientation didn't really bother me for some time, took a long time to accept myself. I lost contact with the people mentioned above, as well. I don't count the above list at all actually, because I was young, not yet to terms with myself, plus it was online, gah I don't even see that ex as my ex lol.

    This year:

    3. Best friend ever/crush who I thought was straight (Now my ex / still sort of friends)
    4. Parents
    5. Group of friends from my previous college (two of which are bi)
    6. Close friends
    7. College folks
    8. My sister (and her 7 y/o son but don't know about that)

I have no intention yet of telling people outside of those mentioned. My coming out is complicated though because I started coming to people IRL because I was dating my ex, and now I don't know how to go further because we broke up and he's closeted but when I tell people I'm bisexual I want to be able to tell them how I realized and all. About all of the people above know him, apart from most of the college folks.

So I'm just kind of waiting for a magical spell that causes my ex to not mind me telling others about us, or til I start dating someone else of the same sex, or maybe my ex makes up his mind and we magically get back together, which is probably the least likely and I shouldn't want that. But I just want to be out and tell people my story!

It's not so long. Started last april.

    1. My 3 best friends
    2. Other friends out to 3, 3 more to go
    3. Parents

    4. Everyone else I'm not close with. After clearing my list I don't care if they know, they'll find out when I start dating or when others spill the beans. This includes my sister and some 'distant' friends.

    1) 3 closest female friends
    2) closest guy friend
    3) 1 out of 2 sisters
    4) other sort of close friends
    5) everyone else

So not doing too well... :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I'm planning on telling the guy friend after my birthday, so after next week. He's really homophobic so I don't think he'll take it well. I think he's already guessing though, so maybe I'll be wrong.

    4. Whatever

Really, my immediate family and one friend actually know for sure that I'm gay. As timo said, everybody else will find out once I start dating or they get told by someone else.
I'm never telling my grandparents, and it'll be years before my aunt or uncle find out. There just isn't a need for anybody else to know at this point. So essentially, I'm on #4 for the rest of my life.

I would like to come out to my best friend but I have always felt it would be best to come out to my parents before anybody else. Still working on it

I guess everyone has similar lists. I really hope mine is done before I turn 20 :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I haven't gotten very far. Numbers 1 and 2 are just there to give me something to cross out, so I can feel like I've accomplished more than I really have.

    6. My father and his new wife (in the event that we ever see one another again)
    7. My step-father (never going to happen)

There are a few people I'm out to that didn't make the list. I didn't see coming out to them as a challenge or a goal, it just sort of happened.

I'm big on making lists. I can't believe I haven't made a coming out list yet. xD

    Make coming out list
