Coming out for the first time

I came out for the first time in August 2011, 17, however I officially came out to part of my family when I was 18, in October 2011 and later in March 2012 to everyone else, including my parents.

 

Hmmm the first person I came out to was my best friend, and I was either 18 or 19. I didn't start feeling comfortable or "ok" about it until after I came out to my parents when I was 19. I had texted it to my best friend, and actually TOLD my parents so I guess I'll put 19.

 

If coming out as questioning counts then 15.

 

I came out to a friend and my sister in June/July 2012 when I was 21.
Came out to my parents on Halloween 2012, and I'm 22.

A long way to go, but I think I'm getting there

 

I was 17 when I first time said my Mam that I'm lesbian, then I repeated this at 19 and finally when I was 21 my Mam understood that it's try)))))

 

So, it's very recent Congratulations

 

Last april, at 21. Told a few friends since then.

 

This thread makes me feel better knowing that I'm not the only one who waited until their 20's to come out. Just goes to show that you just wait until you're ready.

I came out for the first time about a year and a half ago when I was 21. I told my best friend and she was absolutely supportive. Coming out has made me realize some of the wonderful people I've surrounded myself with. It also let me know the people who aren't worth my friendship. However, the first person I've told from my family was just last week. So, its still a work in progress.

 

I first came out at 14 years 1 month 6 days. Or thereabouts.

 

I came out for the first time when I was 16, and never looked back : D

 

I came out to one of my best friends in 2010. I was 18 then. I didn't come out to anybody else until I graduated high school. By then, I was 19.

 

I assume the thread is "when is the first time you come out to someone else," so my answer is 16. I came out to myself when I was 14.

Well, if you never came out and you want to come out to someone and want some suggestions, it's the right place. Was making a general suggestion, forgive me if I misunderstood your comment :S

 

I just came out to my therapist on October 3 (this year), but I'm not out to anyone else yet. Took me a LONG time to finally say it out loud to her (and to myself).

 

Oh, so far, I'm the youngest. I came out for the first time in real life at 12 (I'm 21 now), to my best friend at the time.
