So the title says it all, happy bonfire night everyone! I guess this applies to just the UK? I know that the US celebrate it on the 4th July.
I can see lots of fireworks if I look out of my window. Unfortunately I don't have anyone to go out with to any firework events, but they look spectacular when they explode in the sky
Lol, bonfire night is a British event, the Americans don't celebrate it on 4th of July at all. The 4th of July is when the yanks celebrate their independence from us Brits. I've always said that we should celebrate it as well, the day we got rid of the Americans Since ive not been to see any fireworks this year, i think i'll just settle with watching 'V for Vendetta'. Its one of my favourite films anyway, but today seems most appropriate considering what we're celebrating.
Its a great film, i do remember having a very awkward time watching it with my mum though. Firstly i had to put subtitles on because she couldnt understand what V was saying (level 1 anger) then she complained that she couldnt concentrate because of the subtitles (level 2 anger) then she said Natalie Portman was a shit actress (level 5 anger, Natalie Portman is perfect) and the final straw was her saying that she could tell Stephen Fry was gonna be a woofter and his little pervert hole deserved black bagging (level 10 anger, no one attacks Stephen in my presence) so i turned the film off and told her to go away.
Yeah we don't celebrate it in Canada either, but almost everyone's Facebook status talks about it or they wrote "Remember, remember the 5th of November." Though I've heard some crazy stories about the things that can happen!
I don't like it - a lot of money spent on fireworks, and all they do is create a lot of pollution, a lot of fire hazards, and scare a lot of animals.
Wow, that's really, really terrible. Plus he's gay in real life, too. And the fictitious regime in that movie was basically disappearing and killing us.
I used to be into fireworks when I was younger, but I'm over it now. I have a joke on the 4th. What better way to celebrate the birth of your country then by blowing up a piece of it.
Damn, I would have forgotten about this if I'd not seen your thread. For the last three years it's just me that remembers in my family, the others have gone.
