I just wanted to post this, because I think it's comedy gold. In my view, this falls into the category of "reasons to feel better about yourself, because at least you're not as inept as these people." While this is a 100% appropriate video for EC, I do have to give a trigger warning on it. Enjoy.
Not wanting to spoil too much, I have to say, I really enjoyed the "fashion photographer." My gaydar, as terrible as it is, definitely registered something.
That was "fun." Also, it's not a good sign when the Viking guy seems the most, er, 'stable' of the group . . .
omg this is soooo scary/funny. Though, to be fair... video dating in the 80s wasn't anything like online or other methods of meeting people we use today, and generally, the majority of people who used it were the total nerds and socially awkward people who would have no chance of finding someone otherwise, so this isn't necessarily a representative sampling of dating in the 80s.
Oh, it's definitely not representative. However, it is funny. And I am glad that time has saved us from all the horrible mullets and mustaches.
The info chart on the end is interesting too.. What is a 'body designer' and ewww for only wishing to date with people 10+ years younger..
I think there are still some fairly high-end concierge-style matchmaker services where you go in and they coach you and help you to make a great impression on camera, and then the staff goes through and finds others they think are a good match, show them your profile (with a handful of others) and try to make a match. But these days, those services seem to cater mostly to busy professionals who either don't want to take the time to date, or are super shy, or something of that sort. And, come to think of it, I'm not sure I've seen any ads for any of them in the past several years.
