    Ok, so.

In the alphabet soup acronym, LGBTQ, what's the 'Q' stand for? I've heard it can represent questioning and/or queer.

LGBTQ**, which is how I was taught to spell it, is the short form of however many letters you want to add on to represent different groups. I've seen it written as LGBTQIA, LGBTTIQQ2SA, LGBTTIQQ2SAA, LGBTTTQQIAA, etc... It's often referred to as the Alphabet Soup.

In answer to your question, both--there are two Qs.

I thought it was queer, although I've heard people say it's questioning.

I've heard it as both, but in quite a few of the "it gets better" videos it's used as questioning

I've always thought it meant queer. I mean, questioning isn't really an identity, is it? The others are. You question whether or not you are LGBTQ. At least that's how I've always seen it :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

But what is queer? And how does it differ from gay or lesbian ?

Queer is a term that includes anything that is not heterosexual, heteroromantic, cisgendered. So whether you're gay, lesbian, transgendered, biromantic, whatever, it's all called queer.

To be honest, I think it's really annoying. We should just replace it with one word or phrase.

I can agree here. The alphabet soup sucks. We should just use queer.

    Also, QUILTBAG is really bad.

Wow QUILTBAG made me laugh, I've always thought that the Q stands for questioning.
