well actually one of Fred Phelps' sons is really cool. He's an LGBT activist and has spoken out against the actions of his family. I personally have had to speak on the phone with Shirley Phelps and let me tell you, she's just as unpleasant in real life as she appears on tv >.>

 

how in the world does sexuality relate to patriotism? That's like two different, unrelated subject.

This world makes me want to kill myself sometimes... I can't comprehend their minds

 

Yep I heard about for a long time. They are meant to be ignore and shunned by everyone in society. Even conservatives don't talk to them cause they know that this group is crossing the line.


On a side not please do not use the word "mentally retarded" it is offensive to people who have that disability or have family or friends with the disability. These people are not "mentally retarded' a better word would be extreme bigots or something like that.

What do they mean by "America accepts" homosexuality? Well, what they mean is that we don't have the death penalty for gay sex.

From what I've heard, they hate soldiers because they fight for a country that allows gays. And yeah, they all need to just be shot already...

 

I'm pretty sure many people have considered it.

I'm also pretty convinced that if Fred or Shirely Phelps were murdered, the killer would just get off on a jury nullification acquittal.

they're not "mentally retarted (sic)" as you put it, they're just completely brainwashed by a charismatic, domineering, rage-addicted, egomaniacal, narcissistic cult leader in Fred Phelps, and to a lesser degree his daughter whom he has turned into a similar monster to himself. It's a crying shame.

 

I've heard their tires get slashed quite a bit, windows get broken, people throw things at them. I don't understand how they feel it's still a good idea to do what they do. Their actions disgust me. If any one of them tried to protest at my husband's funeral, I'd be reaching for a gun.

Louis Theroux is great - I haven't actually seen The Most Hated Family in America but I've seen a lot of his Weird Weekends series (where he goes around with various other 'interesting' groups of people) and they were all brilliant.

They're a very vile bunch, that's for sure.

 

Sorry to be a stickler, but I happen to know Mogget doesn't like that kind of language either, like "crazy," "insane," and whatever. One of the things that took me a while to figure out is that saying that people are doing or saying problematic things is really hard without using problematic language oneself.

Now I basically just like to say crapsack. Because there are no sacks of crap here to be offended by that.
