This amuses me to no end but being goth I surround myself in darkness and art while leaving a trail of rainbows behind me. So I call out to fellow goths here on this forum as I know I am not the only one on EC (or mayby I am ) to sound off here and connect!

Goth is still a thing? I thought they were so hot back in their heyday.

Well once it was Gothics, then (in my younger days) Goths, and now there's Emo. There are still Goths too.

So yeah it's still a thing :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: It will always be a thing to be fascinated by death, darkness, and finding it beautiful.

In my experience, admitted gothics and goths have in common that they are well in their skin, happy beings, at ease with life more so than other people! It all sounds positive to me.

So, I used to be one but I've diversified with growing older. Now I love the sun way too much for having a white skin, and I like colors and the likes, more simplicity to my clothes and so on.

I still have my long metalhead hair though and high black leather studded boots, my piercings and tattoos of course :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

    So Hey Everett!!

I'm not sure if I'm actually goth, but I think I am somewhat. Really, I'm a mixture of goth and emo.

What's the difference between Gothic*, Goth, and Emo?

*Gothic as in what people are talking about on this thread, not the medieval stuff

It's different generations and interpretations of the same style through the years. Though I find that Emo is a bit different, less happy and less peaceful, but maybe I'm just being old.

Yay, goths! Although I wouldn't describe myself as a fully fledged goth I'm definitely that way inclined, as a glance at the books and DVDs I was carrying in my bag earlier would probably indicate ('The Corpse Bride', the 1979 version of 'Nosferatu the Vampyre', a book about 'The Cabinet of Dr Caligari'...). Funnily enough earlier today apropos of nothing I was musing on how I briefly flirted with the idea of going goth in my mid-teens but dismissed it. Wish I'd done it now.

Personally I veer mainly towards the earlier goth scene in the 80s when it was more punky, or dark synth and psychobilly stuff, the more metal orientated stuff I'm not so keen on.

This thread has inspired me to listen to Siouxsie and the Banshees now.

Haha. I would classify as somewhere between Goth and Emo give or take a few different views on each.
    Definitely my type as well.

I don't have a label, and I doubt most would think I'm a goth, but I suppose a lot of my traits would classify. I'm a Brit and naturally REALLY pale, so much so that I glow in outdoor photographs (for which my best friend teases me mercilessly). My apartment is almost entirely black (from my couch to my curtains), and accents are either white or a sort of blood-red. I have always been very comfortable with death, ever since I was a toddler, and that has just increased as I've had more experience with it. Dealing with it on an almost daily basis is not a problem for me. I am in veterinary medicine, and I love dealing with bloody/gorey cases, which is why I'm looking to specialize in emergency surgery. I'm also super into vampires and werewolves, although much more Let the Right One In type stuff, as opposed to Twilight.

So yeah...I don't feel like a goth, but I guess some people could consider me one. Who knows!

I'm not goth. I'm sad by default. But I am gay. But no, there isn't a trail of colorful rainbows. Just a Black and White rainbow.

I'm a goth, but I'm weird even for other goths because I mix styles anyway. :x

There's so many layers and sub categories for goth, and I'm loving it so much.
