I was wondering what everyone thought about people using broken English when on EC, MSN, AIM or any other web based communication. Is it fine, annoying, frustrating ect?

At times it can be annoying, but It's a leisurely activity. I really don't care either way, so long as I can read it without wanting to smash my head into my desk...

It annoys me. As you might know I'm not a native speaker so I have really lots of trouble understanding sometimes.

Like Fred said, I have problems too to understand what people say sometimes. But I don't really blame them because I do the same in french  !

It does get annoying after a while. I think people are too lazy to type out whole words or phrases and just want the easy way out by cutting the word to less typing. That just my opinion though...

It really depends on how far the individual goes when using it... Like if someone never types in caps and the occasional "w/e," "bbl," or "ppl" are thrown in, I'm generally fine with it. If they completely rape the English language with stuff like "mah boi wut r u up 2 2day??? i jst went sk8'n!!1" then it annoys me and I usually want to punch their face in.

I voted "yeah it's fine" by accident; I meant to vote that it's annoying.

It looks like crap, it's often ambiguous and is usually pointless. Language can be a beautiful thing, please stop destroying it.

I spell everything right, but I don't capitalize things or use punctuation when IMing someone. It seems too formal and distant (and cold). However, on posts I type everything correctly (I hope).

Why is this in the Anonymous section? Its supposed to be for support only.

And on topic, it pisses me off. Even pisses me off in SMS's too, I write whole words. >_>

I dislike it when it's extreme (like I dislike most things when they are extreme ie Chris Crocker), however I personally throw in a few shortened words, such as tomoro, tho, ppl, etc (short for et cetera hehe). Because I've gotten into the habit of writing them, I find it very hard not to write them, and have to made a definate effort not to.

As long as you know how to write and spell properly I think it's fine, but yeah when people are talking in french and say MDR I'm like... come again (MDR is like LOL) but luckily I'm not good enough at french to be on french chatrooms much

Anyone can make genuine mistakes wether English is their first language or not and the sentances are usually understandable but abbreviations stuck in the middle of sentances for the sole reason of writing more quickly?!!! Fine, but the time the writer saves is lost ten fold by the reader wondering what the hell the other person is trying to say.

I vote VERY annoying. If there are too many abbreviations I give up and don't bother reading... if you can't be bothered to write, I can't be bothered to read!

Ok, Waitingsucks here is me being stupid (living in France and all that), what does MDR mean? I never go on chats anywhere but here and then not often... way too fast for me!
