Hey EC. I just felt like starting this thread for fun, to see how many people on here actually enjoy this hobby. I am 16 years old, and I am thinking of buying a VW Beetle to work on for my first car. I really like repairing old things, and I feel that if "I" repair my own car, "I" will know it better than the mechanic or whomever else. Also, on a side note, what year(s) do you recommend for getting an old Beetle? I have a repair manual that covers 1964-71, so preferably something in that year range  Thanks (&&&)

If I had more money and a place to store an old car I'd definitely get one. Some kind of old Italian or French car  Right now I have an 1997 Lancia (I know, it's not old :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:) which needs some work and I like to do it myself. Not because I'm good at it, but because it's fun to do and to learn about it.

About Beetles - I have no idea. They don't interest me that much so unfortunately I won't be able to tell you anything specific.

I'd love to restore an old car I had the time, spare money and know how. I'd like to restore a BMW 2002(precursor to the 3 series), they looked pretty cool when they're restored.
